Just noticed theres no 1 series forum.Is there any particular reason for this?
I know it's a new model and theres not many about but they must be gaining in popularity by now.I must have seen all of,I dunno,12 since launch. |

It is possible but in a year the X forum has only generated 24 threads - will a 1 forum be even quieter?

Probably.Until some fast ones come out like the 265bhp 130 thats been mentioned.
Would the Mini count as a beemer and have it's own forum? I know chances are it'll have it own site. PS Peter I've been into Fawdingtons twice in a week (braided clutch hose which BMW wouldn't release for some reason :S ,hopefully will be resolved on Monday) and never noticed a single 1. |

Nissan Almera? What predjudice we have here - and from a 'Really Senior Member!'
This is the kind of thing which gives the BMWCC a reputation for being snobbish, and I really feel that we can do without it. Maybe I don't have a sense of humour, but potential new members who own 1-Series models may feel the same way. Please, let's make all BMW owners welcome, both in person and on this site - I would have thought that anyone who wants to be known as a 'Really Senior Member' would not have to be reminded of simple courtesy. |

And youed win, Hands Down, I love the new one and the snitzers 5 ltr v8 one wow now that would kick ass, I see em every day in Sussex, If I were to by new it would be a 130, Thay look great when you stand next to em, and the 120d out did me in the 2 ltr acord I was driving from the lights the other day to. I agree with making all BMW owners feel welcome, but I don't think the comments about the 1 series were to do with snobishness. My own feelings towards it are to do with a distaste for the styling. I feel exactly the same way about the new 5 and 7 series and to a lesser extent the new 3 and 6. I'm sure the new 130 is a very good car to drive and with 258bhp it will be very fast across country but from a subjective point of veiw I just don't like the way it looks.

I agree as regards the 1 Series styling - it looks rather like a Vauxhall Astra from the rear three-quarter angle, but on the other hand I drive a Z3, which 'Car' magazine described as consisting of the lack-lustre Compact platform, clothed in an odd fish-like body!
Each to his own, but we must remember that others - perhaps 1-Series owning aspiring BMWCC members - are looking at this forum. PS - I am very impressed by all the 'Really Senior Members' here - I've only been a member for five years, so feel suitably humble! The trouble is that if everyone is a Really Senior Member, who is left to be a normal humble member? As Gilbert and Sullivan put it - 'If everybody's somebody, nobody's anybody!' |

| Hi Guys, I'm new here, but have owned Beemers for over twenty years. I work for a car hire company and get to drive everything from the Chevrolet Matiz to E class Mercs, but there aint no substitute for a BMW. I've tried the rest, and I drive the best. I noticed that a gent called 'Horsetan' has called the 1 series a Nissan Almera. Well, after as I said, twenty odd years of superb 3 series motors, I've just bought a 120d, and it is NO Almera, trust me. IT IS AWESOME ! And it's my first 4 pot motor, but I still love it. So does my mate, and he has a 328 coupe, and he struggled to pull away from me. No, don't knock it guys, it's a great motor well worthy of the BMW badge. |

I put a Lexus IS 200SE in part exchange for a 1 series 116i Sport and it is a great car. As for how it looks, beauty is in the eyes of beholder! ------------- Owner of an unmodified 116i Sport. Lover of Premiership and Championship football in Hampshire |

There you go Horsetan, Post in haste, repent at leisure! I personally think we are all a bit biased, some owners of new BMs dont understand those of us with '80s cars, and nor do those who own '70s kit for that matter, and I personally don't like the newest cars from almost any series (except the Z4 for some reason), but I guess they will grow on me. Still, lively debate is surely why we keep coming back to these forums, other than the excellent technical advice of course! ------------- And so says Jimbob. 1981 635csi 81k miles. As for 1 series, I've seen dozens in York - and i actualy quite like them, even parked next to one at the supermarket amd it was about the same size as my compact. Just a suggestion (which the few X drivers and 8 series drivers will probably disagree with) but why not just have an 'others' forum. Its more than likely that the combined amount of threads for all three will still be very small.
BMW car magazine just did a tidy up to get rid of their 1 series forum and a few others, and its much handier to navigate, and slightly easier on us for download times. ------------- http://www.bmw-driver.net - BMW-Driver.net |

In many ways I'm inclined to agree with Ken above. After requests, I recently added two new forums and am waiting for something to go in them.
