Today the government will probably announce the privatisation of the
speed detection system. They hope to have about 600 blackspots
targetted and want the operators to concentrate on accident blackspots
and not so much on motorways/dual carriageways. It is reckoned that in the first year €70million will be raised from the system! Feck all i'd imagine, they'll no longer be interested in road safety now that they can get someone else to raise the revenue for them. Interesting statistics on Top Gear about speed cameras and road deaths. a lot to do with people slamming on the anchors when they find a speed trap they didnt know about! Putting the money into decent roads and overtaking lanes would drop road deaths in this country! -------------

True and True.
