Ladies & Gentlemen (& Floody)

On Sunday 2nd October there will be a run up to Kielder lake/forest. DrivingWe will be meeting up with our cousins from the Scottish Region.  beerchug

The exact location/times etc are yet to be confirmed, but the basic premise will be to meet at a suitable establishment for lunch.  We won't risk a picnic due to the great British weather, although if you would prefer to do so, that is your choice.

This is likely to be our last run out of the year before the weather gets really nasty (although judging by today's weather, we're already too late!Frown)

So bring your family.  Bring your friends.  Bring your pets.  Bring the good looking one you spotted at the bar last night.  But most importantly, bring yourself! (and your car, 'cos it's a really long walk!)

So sign up hereType, and stay tuned for further details.  To quote one of our greatest leaders "You know it makes sense Rodney!"Thumbs Up

That makes 11 cars and 17 people, looking good people, looking good.

Update

We will meet in the layby on the A696, the road leading towards Newcastle airport off the A1, between 0930-0945.  There is only one layby between the A1 and the airport, so you can't miss it.

We will be leaving 10:00 sharp!!!!  If you are not there, you will have to make your own way!!  We will then head up to Falstone for lunch at 12:00, our friends from North O' the border will meet us at the pub. After lunch, we will head up past the lake to the Dam for photos etc.

Should be a good day people, at this time, the weather is looking OK.

Just a word of warning...if it's raining the 6 will stay in the garage and I'll be coming in an Audi A4 Avant TDi that I've just got as daily runner.  Sorry for being a traitor!

Hopefully the sun will shine on us.

Stick me down as a provisional YES but I may not be able to make it to this one. However, I will be representing the BMWCC at the MR2 Owners Club meet up in Scotland that weekend .  (Starting Fri thru to Sunday)

The E36 WILL be attending and photos taken!!
I have heard rumours about these meets (), I don't think I have to worry...too much!  Time/Location permitting...I'll do my upmost to be at the meet in Kielder. So save me a seat and have lots of BMWs on show...STAT!

GOph3r, why don't you keep an eye on the thread in the Scottish forum, you could always come down with them to Kielder if you are north of the border.

Pub lunches section people off though and lose atmosphere for everyone involved as people tend to go into little huddles and so on.

BBQ.  Let's light up Kielder Forest.

I have booked a table for 25, when I say table, it might actually be the whole dinning room, for 12 o'clock at The Pheasant Inn in Falstone.  http://www.thepheasantinn.com - www.thepheasantinn.com   Falstone is at the bottom of Kielder Lake.  No, diving gear is not needed, it's not in the lake at the bottom, more at the bottom end of the lake.... Oh you know what I mean!!!!!

Sunday Lunches (12.00 - 2.00pm)

On Sundays we serve sizzling traditional roasts with all the trimmings, such as Roast Sirloin of Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, or Roast Northumbrian Lamb with fresh mint sauce.

For vegetarians
Alternatively, vegetarian options are available (and we're not talking flabby omelette), or for those with a less hearty appetite, a selection of crisp and tasty salads.

Anyway, the plan is to head for the pub, meet up with the Scottish guys, have lunch, and then move up to the lake for photos etc.

Meeting times and routes to follow.......

Due to being away for the Saturday night we won't be able to make the 10:00am start from the Layby of Doom.

We will be coming to Kielder, we'll just have to pedal fast to catch up.

Unless I can get written confirmation of agreed value on the Six before Sunday I'll have to make do with the Touring. Not that I don't take the word of insurance companies .  .  .

Yes guys, I am sorry to drop out of this, but having just moved house yesterday, I simply have too much to do to attend!

Mark (floody) & Mick will be your guides for the day, with help from Chris (coasting)  (A BIG thanks guys! )

I have confirmed the booking at the pub.

So it should be a great day.

Please enjoy one & all!

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out at 31 Flavours last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Dave you missed out on a good drive back Within the speed limit of course
Thought it was a good day and nice to see everyone + the Scotish lad's and Pete from Billingham
Still loved the drive back, especially the bit when a car (Ford Focus) pulled over then a 306 put his foot down... only to be overtaken by Chris,Clive,Pete, then me, you should have seen the look on his face

That was a rather, ermmmmm, rapid run back to the A1.....

Sorry I had to back off for a few miles Cliff but my phone rang!

I was on the ragged edge a few times too in the corners - and on the long straight did you notice I almost veered right a bit too far....the bumps weren't to the cars liking at, ermmmm, that, ermmm, speed!

Here are a few pics, but I need to blank out the plates on the other 50+ that I took!!!

Pete, yep the rain stayed away throughout.

There were a few stuffed pheasants inside but I think the pluckers themselves had plucked off.

Oh, I almost forgot....I've never seen a memorial like this in the UK before, but there was a bridge over the little stream to it.

I presume it had been privately paid for by some form of ex-Squadron association in Germany.

Excellent run back, I spent more time on the opposite side of the road I thought I was on the continent!

I had a couple of incidents where the back end tried to overtake the front. Maybe I should have switched traction control on

Looks like you all had a good day

A BIG THANK YOU  to Mark, Terry & Mick for steping in for me on the day. (and to anyone else!)

I hope that the pub was OK, and you all enjoyed lunch.

I am gutted that I missed the second Kielder run this year, but with everything that's comes with moving house, I just couldn't afford the time away this weekend  (and 'er indoors would have given me grief if I had been out all day )

Pictures look great Chris, as do all the cars, a credit to all the owners.  Glad the weather held up for you, and the run back sounded like a lot of fun!

I'll make sure when I organise another one, the least I can do is turn up!

No problems Tim,

The pub was fine, with a good choice of excellent food. Quite reasonable too.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day out and putting faces to names that have been mentioned on the forum.

The run back to the A1 was very exhilerating and gave the Z3M Coupe chance to stretch its legs a bit.

Chris thanks for the pics. Think you need to lower the C of G of the 6 Series or get some wider rubber bands plus suspension mods on it to keep it on track on the corners.

"I was on the ragged edge a few times too in the corners - and on the long straight did you notice I almost veered right a bit too far....the bumps weren't to the cars liking at, ermmmm, that, ermmm, speed!"

The day would been perfect if that guy from Jedburgh that we met by accident at Kielder Castle had turned in his brand new V-10 M-5 instead of his Land Rover Defender.

Cheers

Theres not a huge amount I could do on the tyre front because they're already 275's on the back!

Thing is, if I lowered it and changed the suspension I'd not have the joys of the 6 as a cruiser.

I thought it went well on the bends for such a mammoth car and on the flat straights it was a total hoot!

That's why I sold the M3 anyway, I was getting brittle bones....
