I was thinking of buying this 1997 R plate 318iS coupe, its done 80k miles. Can anyone tell me what usually goes wrong at around this mileage? What should I be prepared for? It does have a full history, though not all BMW

Thanks

You need to check the rear trailing arm bushes. Not difficult to replace but it is a good haggling point.

You should also check the steering column universal joint and the radiator cap have been replaced. If not take it to your local dealer and they will do it for free as this was a recall issue.

Also make sure that the digital climate control panel works. These fail regularly. My front shocks went at 70K, so these might be worth checking.
