I have owned this car for 11 years. Just recently in the last 2 months, there have been occasions when it has taken several attempts to unlock the car with the remote.

On a couple of occasions I have had to resort to opening the car with the key, setting off the alarm. I have then switched off the alarm by inserting and turning a small key in a unit under the bonnet .

I replaced the battery in the key fob , but I still have the problem occasionally.

Rather than use the remote,if I choose to lock the car with the door key in the drivers door, I then find that it will only unlock with the door key in the passenger door. Any suggestion will be appreciated.   Mikeamiri.

Well, that could be many reasons.

Doorlock microswitch out of alignment/broken, a broken wire in the area where is goes from the A-pillar into the door, mostly the driver's door as this is used mostly. Doorlock bracket broken etc. Have a look at Johan's page http://shrubbery.student.utwente.nl/ - http://shrubbery.student.utwente.nl/   But it would be faster if you go to the dealer and ask for a diagnosis readout. The doorlock system on your model year can be diagnozed by the DIS or MODEC system at the dealer. Otherwise you have to remove all doorpanels and have a look inside.
