Curious. The offical Nuerburgring web site shows opening dates for this month (it was due to be open today but ther's snow on the ground ) but nothing for later in the year. The Easter weekend is a given anyway. The dates normally go online at the end of Jan.
Check out the new webcam for the entry point on to the track.

Bus - Adults per Person 2.00 €
Bus - children per Person 1.00 €

Lap fees 2006
25-lap ticket car / motorcycle 305.00 €
15-lap ticket car / motorcycle 195.00 €
8-lap ticket car / motorcycle 108.00 €
4-lap ticket car / motorcycle 56.00 €

Tickets valid for one year 2006
Car or motorcycle 798.00 €

Aiming to go over at easter - some b***T**s stole the trailer - have them on video with petrol driven road cutters to get the security locking devices off and when they drove off they damaged another car.......

so i might have to drive it there  but the insurers say they will make an offer shortly??? but given my experiences in the past i am not holding my breath

Cannot wait though as Alpha N, Sports Filter and Innovate now fitted - difference is astounding - still needs fine tuning though

Back in September the queues to get off the track were around 1/2 mile long and 2 cars abreast!

Kevin can confirm that as well.

As I was there as well I can only say this is true. Apart from that however, I think it is also getting seriously dangerous on weekends and many accidents happen nowadays. I would love to join up with my M3, but I would prefer on weekdays, say Thursday or Friday instead of weekend. Kevin told me this was also done this last meeting in 2005.

John

PS. Maybe we can keep everyone informed by updating this topic.

Hi John - it was mad that weekend alright - only got in 3 laps myself - 2 on Friday and 1 on Saturday.

Your right - my next trip will be midweek leading in Thursday and Friday - hopefully get more track time then.

The industry pool will be running for the 4 weeks before Easter (from 20th March) so weekday track use will be very limited. There is a four week break in the industry pool after Easter and then it runs only for one week in May (week beginning 15th) and then not again until June (week beginning 19th).

Last Easter was ok. There was snow on the ground with just 2 weeks to go, but it was all gone by the Easter weekend and business was quiet next to some of the summer weekends later in the year.

The run up to Easter last year was nerve racking with the weather but it turned out to be a great weekend. The snow cleared with just enough time for them to resurface quite a few sections of track.

Brian, I forgot to ask, what are you doing to you M3 that means you will not have whatever you are doing to it completed by Easter?

I've taken it off the road to try and sort some of the rust which is creeping in all over the car now.I also want to remove all the suspension, fuel tanks, fuel and brake lines, exhaust, diff, prop, gearbox, engine and everything in the engine bay and remove the front wings, bumpers, bonnet, front panel, lights etc etc.

A new scuttle panel is needed and a few rust repairs in the engine bay need to be looked at.I'll also maybe a new back panel and some work on one sill.Oh, and the roof needs a repaint along with the underside of the car and then apply some underseal before fitting it all back up.

I haven't started doing any of this yet,and I still have 2 sets of BBS RS's to finish , plus I just bought a complete '215 bhp' engine to rob for bits. Then I have to strip my old engine that blew a piston a couple of years ago and sort everything out that I want to keep and then sell on what I don't want, before I have enough room to start pulling the M3 apart.

Bathurst is a public road when not used for race days , and is subject to the normal speed limits , so you will be stopped and fined if caught speeding , planned to go there last year but the tail end of the cyclone put paid to that..

That's enough to make you cry. I'm planning my 2nd ever trip to the 'Ring this year, pictures like that are a sad but welcome reminder to take things steady.

How many of you guys ever use track day insurance when you go? I didn't bother the first time, but saw plenty of carnage which has made me wonder whether to get it next time.

In case you are not aware the 'Ring is NOT a track, it
is a public toll road. As such all cars need to have
valid insurance to be driven on it (i.e. your current
insurance that covers on the road), take note hear as
quite a number of insurance companies now have a
clause hiden away that states you are not covered on
"unrestricted toll roads"   and hence you will not be
covered. If you had an accident on the 'Ring you
would be in big trouble with the German Police,
when they come and inspect the scene and want to
see your documents.

I can see what you mean, it is good, but for me a good open pit lane track day in the UK, just seems much better value and less grief, more track time to set the car up ? MAYBE IT'S JUST ME .

Fully agree with you. I totally exclude the Ring as a track day (which in reality it isn't a track day anyway), was just talking about the Ring as unique Place.
Personally I don't use the Ring as the place I want to push myself and the car to the limit, it's just for fun and a good place to meet all kind of people, cars and bikes.
And of course the food in the Pistenklause......

This is very, very tentative until Nurburgring GmbH decide to publish the schedule but we have in mind a visit from 20 May thru 29 May as this would give us clearer lapping during the week as well as time over the weekends to socialise and to odd lap(s) if it isn't too busy.

Dave, I had seen that. It's a very good graphical representation of the offical dates/times from nuerburgring.de but doesn't go past the end of April

right its all booked,

ferry from dover thursday 13th 21.00 april to dunkerque arriving at 23.59 french time.

staying in the luxurious dunkerque formule 1 at the sweet price of 28 euros per room.

an early start with a hangover on friday morning for the blast to the ring and hopefully arrive at nurburg just after lunch (mc d's), for checking in to the zur burg hotel.  the ring is open till 19.30 so theres a nice amount of time to bust some lap times!

not sure whats going on on the evenings but a few pints could be in order.

all day saturday at the ring. all night drinking pints.

possibly a few laps on sunday a.m then back to catch the ferry at 16.45 french time.

arrival at dover at 19.45. drive to ashford for de brief, pints and nightclubing.

drive back home monday.

although ive been to the nurburgring before, ive never been at easter. whats going on around this time of year on a night (is there a beer fesitval or something?).

cars in group: e30 325 sport, e30 m3 and a rental!!

anyone else travelling over there that weekend?

"whats going on at easter"????   everybody and his granny will be there, huge
queues, loads of waiting, masses of bikes throwing themselves into the
armco... Though the full GP circuit was open last year as well I think, wonder
if they will do that this easter, ummmmmmm

I think I might wait, see when they release more dates.

The past 3 Easter weekends I've been to, haven't been that bad. The summer full weekends have always been much worse than any of the Easter weekends. Also factor in that the Ring is open 4 full days at Easter, so you don't have to pack in as many laps in a short time, unlike a 2 day weekend opening, and any track closed time isn't such a large chunk of time when you have 4 days to play.

can anyone recommend any spectator points at the ring. is one of the main ones at brunnchen?

can any one give quick directions either from the main car park (where the ring taxis point is) or the other entry exit car park at breidscheid/ exmuhle
