| Anyone fitted one of these to an E30? I saw it on the UUC site earlier today, looked a nice quality piece of kit. I had a B&M shifter on my civic and it certainly made a world of difference, much nicer feel and throw. |

It is quite easy to fit. The shift is more positive which I really like. If you get one you will love it. I did Steve -------------

Just go to their website as linked in the original post. They're great guys. I had one fitted to my E36 328i coupe and it was tremendous. Planning on getting one fitted to the GT when pennies allow. Baz, MMV will fit one for buttons. Leave us time to go to the pub  -------------

I'm very tempted by one of these as the shift is so loose after the last scooby which had one. Is this one better than the B&M or any others we can get a hold of for the E46 M3.

MMV are in Stirling. UUC deliver direct to the UK with no probs. Or Bobs Shack can get em over in Ireland.
Costs depends on conversion rate. Check out the UUC site and convert  -------------

I have various UUC shifters in stock. Drop me a PM and i'll give you any information you may need. The shifter is easy to install if you have access to a ramp etc. The kit includes a step by step installation guide, so no guess work required It's also advisable to fit the UUC selector rod at the same time, which will eliminate any chance of missed gear changes aswell as removing excess play in the transmission. All details of the application are on the UUC website, so have a good read. It's makes a huge difference to how the car feels IMHO. My mate has a b&m short shift in his 328. In my opinion its not really a bmw thing unless you go on tracks (which he does). To get into reverse gear is nearly impossible unless ur a pro wrestler that can lift 100kg. My girlfriend already finds it difficult to put into reverse, if i got a short shift she can forget reversing my car, lol. Shorter throw = Harder shift It's good to have but it's just bmw's reverse gear that puts me off it. ------------- Life in the fast lane....... |

Although there was increased effort involved with the UUC shift (as detailed on their site) it never affected my ability (or my Mum's!) to easily get into gear. Sounds like either the B&M is not as good as the UUC (highly likely IMHO) or there were other issues with that 328? -------------

Hi guys, i've got the z3 one in my e30 318is and it's GREAT and i notice every time i jump out of it into my E36 M3 how sloppy and orrible the M3 seems I thought (scuse me if i is being fik!) that i could use the Z3 one on the M3 as well? Is this the case and if so what exactly is the difference between it and the UUC one - isn't it £300ish as opposed to £28?! Obviously i want to get the best option for me but am really interested to know the difference in feel when ur'e driving between the two (it's the first short shift i have tried so don't really have anything to compare.)

Give the UUC site a read. It goes into great depth.
Basically, although the Z3 shifter works to reduce the throw, it 'suffers' from the same 'problems' as the standard unit. The UUC unit was engineered to be the best possible solution. -------------

Webdunk, have just had a good look at the UUC site, i agree it does look great, still need to convince myself it's worth the money  as it seems expensive and i don't have much
