Tis a bloody tough one to call, partic as the two aren't recorded in the same place! The Doc Matts sound louder, but that could be due to it being surrounded by offices.

The Peppernicks has a bassier thrum, but I think the Doc Matts retains and heightens the characteristic M3 rasp more- & it almost sounds Ferrari-esque.

So which would I go for.... Docs but only by a rizla paper!

Well if the Nicks has the Carbon intake aswell, I'd reckon the exhaust on it's own would sound a bit bassier again - maybe even a bit Kev-car ish.

Tis interesting to note the AA is on a convertible, which would be more sensitive to noise. I reckon the AA could quieten down on part throttle and cruising, where the Nicks could be noisier more of the time. Perhaps the AA was a conscious decision on the owners behalf to retain a bit of refinement? I'm only grasping at speculative straws now though!! 

Re-listening a few more times there they both have their moments of hardcore sounds. And both yum! The AA is more CSL, the Nicks would sound more special bumbling around, and also goes through more aural change as you go up the rev range which can be more interesting.

By way of update lads, I had a long conversation with Roy at Ca-Automotive this morning about the best route to take.  Extremely helpful chap.  Essentially I told him that I wanted to enhance the WOT mode of the car while retaining the M3's characteristic rasp, but if I could leave the "pottering around town mode" unaffected as much as possible I would be delighted.  I've gone to klangford.com you see, and I personally think some of the aftermarket exhausts ruin whats essentially a great car out of the factory.

Based on this requirement he recommended out of all the options the Eisenmann Le Mans as a good compromise between extra sportiness and refinement.

He said that in the flesh, Peppernicks car is very loud to most mortals so I appreciated the warning.

I hope to order one of these and a gruppe-m replica carbon air intake in the next few weeks.  Just trying to line up a few more soundclips before I take the plunge.

I bumped into Martin a few weeks ago and he said the same thing.  Are you almost regretting putting it on?  Thats my biggest fear with changing the exhaust (that I end up becoming the knob end in the civic I hate, and that when i just want to switch off in the car and cruise or listen to sounds that I have the dreaded drone).

If I do decide to get one, I would certainly participate in the group buy if its happening, but looking at the folks who are in round 2 it seems to me its going to be hard to organise the troops so to speak.

No problem with hooking up.  In fact you can probably provide a more suitable delivery address :)  It just wouldnt be the done thing to have exhausts and the like arriving at the office reception :)

On the springs, talk to Richie....he got them for me cheaper than I could have done on the net.  I'm the same as yourself on the coilovers.  Don't do enough track work to really justify it and I don't want to lower the car much more because my area is covered in speed humps.  On my last car (E46 Coupe) I pulled off the side skirt when I went over one a tad too fast.

On getting a listen to some exhausts though I have an even better idea.

How about we all be spontaneous and hook up with the EvoTechnik nurburgring trip at the end of march?  All the cool cars are going to be there including Nicks, Matts, Roys and the Supercharged M3!! Plenty of awesome exhausts to sample then.
