Hi,

I posted something to the coupe and convertibles forum but since this is the proper technical forum I thought I'd broach the subject here.

As a result (I think) of getting all four wheels off the ground at once (rookie mistake, misleading signs leading to bridge etc etc yes I'm a rubbish driver!) the rollover bars deployed on my E36 convertible.

I took it to a BMW dealer yesterday to see if anyone could help but being a Sunday there were only salesmen there and one of them managed to lodge the special tool that comes in the toolkit inside the ROPS mechanism.

My local BMW dealer today had a look at the car and said the ECU in charge of this kind of thing is playing up, not letting the diagnostics system connect.

Has anybody got any experience with the rollover system, and if so, how to I sort it?

PS £260 for a new plastic screen is a pain but at least I havent wrecked my suspension!
