Just went to check my car fluids as it has been a nice sunny day. Well I unlatched the bonnet on my 318iS Coupe and lifted the bonnet up and.....Thud! the bloody bonnet is now dented as it landed on my head! (only joking!), but my head hurts..

I think my bonnet struts have now officially retired! (at the expense of a lump the size of a golf ball!)

Has anyone replaced these? If so, could they instruct me how to do it if possible? or even point me to a DIY repair website.

I have a similar problem when it's windy

I find a cut-to-length broom handle to be a suitable safety measure!
