I have a BMW 325i e36. The alarm is a 3T.

It started going faulty a few months back. The key fob got weaker and
weaker, even with battery changes. I was having to open the door and
turn it off with the fob inside the car. [V]

That fob failed. So i started using the second. But for some reason the
second started eating batteries, and needed a new set every 2 days.

I went on holiday and left the car with the alarm not set. When i got back
last week the red LED was out, and the key fob would not operate it at all.
Tried fresh batteries. Nothing. LED on the fob indicates its working, LED
in the car doesn't respond. The doors don't open / close and the lights
don't flash to show its being set.
The car is imobilised and i can't do anything to dissable the alarm.

I took the alarm box out from behind the drivers side compartment and
opened the tamper proof box. Its a 3t (as pictured above. I think its based
on a sigma SG20. I've got a Sigma programmer coming in the post that i
bought on ebay, but i've read that the system needs to be reset by BMW.

Does anyone know if this is true?
Is there a Sigma alarm that i replace the 3T box with and program new
fobs to it?
Any help appreciated really.

The car is parked a few streets away under a tree and the pigeons are
sh*tting on it [:(]

cheers

It sounds to me as though your fob wants reprogramming to your vehicle, i dont know how you reprogramme the fob as its not the same as the 5 series as the 5 series as the buttons for the alarm and to open the car are on the key itself, i had a simular thing happen to me where the alarm wouldnt turn off so i rang my BMW squealer and they told me to get in the car and start the engine and that should cancel the alarm but it didnt so i was driving in the hospital grounds with the alarm going the squealer said they could come and tow me in and have a look, yeah right at there prices i think not i managed to get round mine by reprogramming the key to the car, but for a fob i think its a main squealer job, you could try looking in your handbook under new transmitter and see if there is a proccedure for this like there is in the 5 series handbook.
