Hi guys,

I'm looking to change the steering rack on my right-hand drive '89 325i, to an E36 325i or M3 rack with less turns lock-to-lock. http://www.zionsvilleautosport.com/ - www.zionsvilleautosport.com  supposedly do a conversion kit, but this is only good for left hand drive.

Anybody had a go at this conversion, and have some useful pointers on parts required, costs etc?

Cheers

I'd love to know this too.

I have a manual rack and would love to rebuild it to a 3 or 3.5 L2L ratio.

I seem to remember a thread on this conversion on another forum. I will try to find it and post a link (is it OK to post a link to another forum on here?!). From memory the mods required were some custom fabricated spacers - as the e30 rack is taller than that of the e36, and a (length) modification to the steering column. I believe that the e36 M3 (evo?) rack is 3.4 turns L2L, but there was also someone who said that a Z3 rack would fit and that they were around 3 turns L2L.

Yep - that's the one - quite a bit of useful information on the conversion there...
