Well months ago I was looking to supercharging my Z4, I did a bit or research on heare and other forums but it never went any further because the best insurance quote I got was £1500, so I had to back off.

So I started looking around and decided a Milltek system (see post in the last week) and DMS remap would be the way to go... taking the car to around 265bhp. But now just had another quote before I jumped in with the exhaust for fitting a Supercharger and it's only increased my premium by £200 a year which is fine, the exhaust increases is by £120 anyway.

I just can't decide what to do, basically it's £2000 for exhaust and remap against say £3.5-£4k for a SC. I am just not sure I will be happy with a 30bhp increase, 70/80bhp is more like it.

So what am I after??.... something quicker basically without ruining fuel consumption and driveability. Some people have said fuel economy is better with a SC when cruising because the ECU is remapped....

Ah..... what do I do? Whay can't I just be happy with what I've got? Smile

I plan on keeping the car for another 3/4 years anyway.

Get a decetn supercharger with an electric clutch. I will be fitting one to my old mans z3 2.8 normal car, flick switch sc car. problem solved.

try adrian flux insurance as well. they are very good on mods. i was quoted 1600 fully compy for e30 325i with, 335i turbo engine, 400bhp, big brakes, m3 welded on kit etc etc. 24, 3 years ncb.

just thought. for 3>4k you could have the top end re-done, bigger valves, porting, polishing, cam etc etc. this is another option. have you thought about brakes and suspension. its easier to out-brake people, and corner, than to put foot to floor, especially on modern traffic filled roads.

and being happy with a standard car, whats that all about? if you are happy, then great, your life just got alot cheaper...

if not, join one of the most expensive hobbies in the world!!! hehe.
