Its not at all about lap times.
You are judged visually and aurally by Croft's expert team of circuit marshalls. Each post logs which it thinks is the best driven car.. I tot it all up and the one with the most votes wins. I have found this the best way to do it as it gives me 'eyes' all around the circuit and as the marshalls don't know who is driving what they have no pre-conceptions.

They look for pace and line whilst observing your car control. Braking, entry point, apex, exit, acceleration are the key. Smoothness is paramount.
A smoothly driven car that combines all the disciplines is graceful to the eye and earns the points.
A ragged, power off then on, staccato style of driving may feel more exciting but it loses points and is actually slower.

They also watch you throughout the day. Consistency wins.
They are also well aware of the novices and look for improvement as the day goes on.

The award is a heavy lump of lead crystal that costs a good few quid each year.. I don't just hand it over lightly..
you have got to work for it!

Nick

Good luck for tomorrow Nick.  Hope everyone has a great day and everyone goes home safe & happy.

I'm sure that trophy had my name on it (mug?), but at least I guess I can be first to say I've paid for next year?
