The smallest of holes/tears has appeared in my roof on my E30 M3.

The size is about half a five pence piece but enough to squirt water through.

Any ideas for a quick/cheap fix, the rest of the roof is spanking as is only over a year old

I own a Saab 900 convertible. A couple of months ago a small hole, about the size of a cigarette burn, appeared on the roof. This is currently covered up with a small piece of duct tape. Ideally I want to avoid fitting a new roof and therefore I am looking for a company that could repair the hole, plus valet the roof, as it currently has patches of algae growing on it. Failing finding a solution, could you tell me who is worth contacting to fit a new roof? David Lambert, Richmond

Try your local Saab dealer – they often have a local firm who will carry out the repair even if they don’t do it themselves. If they can’t help, try some of the prestige dealers (eg Porsche). If the roof turns out to be beyond repair, try the Car Hood Warehouse for a new one.

closest match i could find i'm afraid

Get yourself into a camping shop, and buy a tent repair kit, very flexible and long lasting.

leave the hood down - by a toneau cover - get the wind in your hair

(Or buy a proper E30 M3 - you know, the one that comes with a roof)
