when i took my exhaust of at the weekend to change it i noticed that one of the down pipes (pre CAT) was white inside and the other one was black and sooty.

Does anybody know what could be causing this and is there any problems that i will notice.

Wrong fuel/air mix will give soot. You should probably have that checked.
