Hi, just wondering if anyone here has ever retro fitted the old style air con climate control (not the digital one) into an e36?

I'm looking at buying a '95 e36 M3 which doesn't have air con. A friend of mine has a '94 e36 325 track car with the climate control. I'm hoping to swap all the parts over so I'd have the climate control in my M3 (for the road) and he could just have the normal fan and heat knobs put into his track car. Will this work? Is it a huge job? Am I mad?

I  can be done, but it is a big job, from what I can remember, in my old 320i to remove the air box ( what the heater controls are attached to) was a complete dash out job. It would be very time consuming and something that I would only do myself, as to pay for it would cost a fortune.

I don't have  a link to it but I think that some one on bimmerforums.com did this.

Cool. I'll have a look. I wouldn't mind spending a few days doing it just so long as its possible. What the hell were those cheapskate b*sta*ds in BMW thinking making aircon an option on a car like that? So annoying.
