The clutch master cylinder that I had relaced 5000 miles ago has now decided to leak copious amounts of clutch fluid all over the carpets of my tourer. Needless to say I'm livid
.The company that did the original work are a national chain and have obviously offered to replace it. Their suppliers are a national chain that advertise occasionally with the club and they've informed me that it is an OE master cylinder and will have words with the manufacturers, advising me to write a letter of complaint. However,now that i've had 3 or 4 reservoirs worth of Clutch/Brake fluid down in the drivers footwell, because I couldn't see where it was leaking to until it was to late.What are the chances of the carpets being ruined and what possible damage lies underneath that? as this stuff does paintwork no good at all.any body had a similar thing happen and how did you get it cleaned up effectively.

 All sorted, it turns out it was a coupler that connects on to the master cylinder that had split,so everybodies reputation and dignity is preserved. 41p for the component from Sytners and problem solved. Only thing I would say to that Bulldog is that brake fluid and paint do not mix well and if the fluid has seeped through to the floor then it WILL strip the paint, no question. I would raise the carpet at the area of the leak and check. They should be liable no matter what so would even claim them for the carpet cleaning by a specialist too.
