Does anyone know if these are good/bad?? i heard that if you lower by too much it can cause hassle??

Also is there a wheel size restriction when it has been lowered, i'm getting new wheels anyway but need to know if my current 19" wheels will be ok in the time being??

personally id spend another £40-50 and get a set of eibachs.

if you've got 19"'s on an e36 already then I'm guessing your arches have already been rubbed down??

if this is the case then there should be no problems fitting the lowering springs

i'm no mechanic so excuse my ignorance but, will i need any other parts when fitting the springs, or is it just a straight swap new for old??

id shop around you can get them cheaper than that. £125 from mine I seem to recall from my local tyre and alloy wheel specialist. Mines is an E46 saloon though. But im sure you could still knock a few quid off the price.

as for tools. You'll need a press for the front springs. back ones are easy enough, front ones bit of a footer getting the strut out of the wheel arch.

im talking as if i did the job when it was actually another helpful forum member that did mine while i was in charge of the kettle for the day

IMO BOGE springs are as high quality items as Eibach are. Eibach get the better exposure as they seem to have a very extensive range for the BM. Would happily recommend the BOGE items tho.

If you are planning to do the front spring yourself but do not have any experience with fitting springs then please do be careful. Road spring that are compressed enough to take off and replace onto struts have enough power to literally take you head off if they slip off the clamps. Buy high quality compressors with locks on them to hopefully avoid this. If you have a vice then that is the best place to compress and loosen them in on their side just in case. Ive seen a hole put in an iron roof 20ft up by by a spring whose clamps let go! They must be tightened alternatively, 3 turns one side 3 times the other as a rule

id echo robs comments on safety for the compressors. if you havnt done it before perhaps someone on the forum who lives nearby you could offer to give a hand one saturday morning????

the power of the BMW Car Club was how I got mine on as I said earlier.

I havnt heard too about BOGE springs. but if the guys on here are reccomending them and e36coupe.com as coupe king says then id say they were worth a look at on that basis.

VENTURA spring's are good quality to

i fitted them to my last car, Mitsubishi Galant and i have "progressive" -35mm Ventura's on my E39

as long as you dont drop it less than -35mm then you should be ok to use your standard shock's

ok so ive had my springs fitted, however, it only looks SLIGHTLY lower? maybe i had sports springs previously??

anyway, the knocking from the rear left (thought to have been from my old broken spring) is still

dont worry the car will drop further. it usually takes a month or so for the full lowering effect to take place. remember it will only be around 30mm or so though. its pretty subtle not suicide that your after anyway for a nice "sporty" profile.

as from the knocking from the rear left can you describe it a bit better?? and when does it happen?? going over bumps?? all the time??

Definately sounds like a bush Bones, may be a top mount bush, can you figure where it's coming from, higher up or under the seat. The reason for asking is it's easier and much cheaper to replace the tops mounts and a lot more complicated and costly to replace the rear arm bushes
