I know its not the place to sell them or the time of year really but being in a position where ideally I need to off load my m6 seeing the two that just went unsold on ebay and the further two up there at present it doesn't give one much heart! The white car has had the chains done and looks very clean as does the grey one at present. Admittedly the black one did not have the chains done but this is hardly the end of the world in terms of cost. As well as that if you have them done yourself the peace of mind and life left in them is greater so arguably a great bargaining point. The reason for the post is just to see whether people here had seen these cars and thought the same as me. Regards, Rohan

Haven't seen the cars but I agree, it's not a great time of year to sell a car. Also, I just can't get my head around this whole eBay/Car thing. Buying a car is dodgy enough, why would you want to bid on a car when you've only seen a small photo of it? Sorry to hear you need to sell your Six. Personally, I wouldn't mind if the chains hadn't been done providing the cost was taken into account in the asking price. Not sure of the going rate for the job. I believe it's possible to upgrade to the E34 M5 double row chain (late E24 cat. models had them already) so that might be something to consider. However once every 100k miles is not really a major problem for a limited mile classic is it? Prices for M635's are rising but it's all down to condition & history. Andy, I thought they were rising too but your criticism of ebay is assuming you dont view the car. You can go view/test/get inspected the car and then bid on it. Admittedly these are fairly specialist cars and as such their prospective buyers may not be ebay surfers/users. I don't have to desperatley sell the car and won't sell it for nothing as I feel it is a very good one but too many cars and house move means space will be at a premium! I really like the m6 but other cars have a fonder spot in my heart, mainly due to them being around for longer. Regards,

Most of the M635s you see on eBay are on for the third, fourth or even more time. Many of them are hopelessly optimistic in terms of reserve price. The recent grey '85 car was a restoration project:- .....failed an MOT recently on 2 points of rust (o/s rear sill & patch on drivers footwell) ......no timing chain rattles (I do not have any documentation to say it has been renewed though ....the car has developed a fuel leak . .....car has been unused for some time ......The front off side wing is coroded near the bottom ......front bumper corners want replacing ......The roof has bubbling around the sunroof panel ....Three tyres on the original 415 TRX wheels need replacing due to cracking on the side walls and the wheel centres are missing ....being sold as a project. Lastly, I know what M6`s are worth so please, No silly offers While it looks a tidy enough car for a project, we all know what's going to happen once the wings sills, and sunroof areas are opened up. It appears to have sold for £2550. More than I was prepared to pay, and I hope the new owner restores it rather than, as I fear, it'll be "restored" to pass an MoT and then be on sale very soon at £7500. Of course, who knows whether cars apparently sold really are, you see the same ones appearing again and again, having previously "sold". These cars are a bit too rare to generalise values. A car for restoration with a solid repaired shell needing paint and assembly, is in my view, worth more than the car above tidied up and MoT'd. There is a steady demand though. The gap between good ones and rotten ones should increase as more are restored they should pull away. The cost of restoration is not going to come down any time soon. An M635 restoration is uneconomical at the moment. I know of a 1985 one in white, which I found in west London last year. It was decrepit - relatively speaking - with moss growing on the window rubbers and dried leaves collecting on the bootlid. It was also a non-runner, with attention to sills being one of the most obvious points, but the owner (yes, he was around) wanted £5000 for it as it stood! -------------

The grey one you mention was indeed the runt of the litter but the grey one on there now, despite those awful wheels looks a very nice car. As far as restoration goes, there are much more expensive cars out there, the front wings although expensive are at least bolt on. With only 524 (i think) rhd cars made it would be very interesting to know how many survive.

Really good ones are going for very big money now. I know of two in the last 3 months that have gone for £15+K. You need to pair the right buyer with the right car. Yours certainly looked pretty good at the rolling road day. You never mentioned if there was much of an improvement in the power after the throttle bodies had been adjusted correctly post RR. If the car was seriously polished to within an inch of it's life it could always be sold at Alexandra Palace in the cars for sale section at the end of Feb/Early March. Hi James, the seat of the pants meter said there was a huge difference but haven't had a chance to get it on a rolling road since. It is a good car but needs front wings. As I'm not keeping it I can't really be bothered with the aggro. Australia is probably the place for it but the Exch rate has been going trhe wrong way for them. Thing is I will end up buying one again in a few years and no doubt that will end up being a nightmare! Regards
