Hi,
About a week ago I was driving along and noticed that the drivers side mirror was misaligned. So I used the control on the door to adjust it. While adjusting, the mirror or motor must of hit the stop and wouldn`t go any further but I kept my finger on the button thing to adjust it further as it wasn`t aligned - i didn`t notice that it must of hit the stop.
Someone must of knocked the whole mirror unit but not far enough for me to notice it. Anyway, I smelled burning once it had been adjusted too far and now none of the two side mirrors can be moved with the control on the drivers side door. The heater on the drivers mirror no longer works either but the passenger side heated mirror glass works fine but like I said, I cannot control the motor for either two side mirrors.

Because I smelled burning (and it really stank!!!) I think it`s seriously damaged. I`m going to take a look at the fuses tomorrow, but is it possible to get these repaired or would I have to buy a whole new side mirror (including paint cost).

I like to think that BMW would of built a safety mechanism into these things so once they hit the stop the motor stops running but that doesn`t seem to of happened, or maybe they have but that part has failed in the mirror I`m having the trouble with.
