This weeks Auto Express has tested 50 popular waxes and the results are surprising.

Meguirs gold class got 2 stars out of 5 citing that it didn't last long.

Poor Boys got 3 stars - great finish but doesn't last.

Autoglymn's 3 products got 3 stars with the super resin polish being best of the three.

Cars were waxed and checked for beading and durability after 8 weeks.

Winners were
1 - Turtle wax Platinum Extra Gloss £9.99
2 - Turtle Wax Gloss Guard £6.99
3 - Comma Top Gloss £4.99
4 - Simoniz Original wax £5.99
5 - Car Plan Nanomeric Seal & Protect £12.99

No surprises really, you might have noticed the top 3 spend lots of money advertising in AE , i always take these reviews in magazines with a pinch of salt, as its always going to biased in favour of the advertisers.

Plus the people who conduct these tests normally don't know their arses from their elbows when it comes to these products!

I use the Meguiars 3 step system too. Far better IMO. I'm always very happy
with the results.

I take about as much note of AutoExpress reviews as I do the weather forecast in Greenland.

That said, the majority of people that read AutoExpress are probably using these polishes/waxes already as they're amongst the cheapest out there and thats befitting of anyone who knows feck all about cars and thereby choses AutoExpress as their reference (all present company excepted).

I'll read anything about cars, purely from an enthusiasts point of view, but I stopped getting AutoExpress a very long time ago.

Total Pish (sorry)

Turtle wax comes out smelling of roses, then 5 pages in they have a double page spread of advertising.

Never used turtle wax since I had my E36, horrible chalky stuff that did nothing for the car.
