I'm imagining quite a few folk have done this. And with Ivan's excellent guide having meant a smooth removal and replacement of back bumper (side washers no problem, weirdly, I must add), I now move on to replacing chrome on the front bumper. I don't yet have the side pieces but I have secured a near-mint condition middle section. . . . only to notice ithere's bolts and nuts involved! Yikes. Any experienced replacers of front bumper chrome out there? Looking briefly under the 635 it seems it's a tight fit to replace it without removing bumper. ;-(

Now this one, unfortunately, I have not done. But it would help if you can get the front of the car up on a ramp so that you can slide underneath.

From my understanding, the front bumper and airdam are secured in front by four bolts on two brackets - a sort of mirror arrangement to what we saw on the rear bumper:

Indeed it would, and indeed it is! with thanks. The middle section of chrome is secured with three bolts (either end and middle). If the bumper was off I could see it being possible to secure through the bumper reasonably easily. But with the bumper on, even sliding under the beast, there's as much light as a bat might find looking up its own fundament on a moonless night in a cave. I figure, tomorrow, taking to the underside with a flashlight (or torch, for those who know Australian parlance) and having a go!
