Nice big style 32 BMW wheels (radials). They suit it really well and have a nice dish on the rears.

I too have a soft spot for the 32 Radials. Had them in 16" on two previous E36's (Compact & Touring). 17"'s especially 18"'s would look good. Of the choices listed I would go with the M5's (though I don't particularly like black wheels).

the colour of the m5 wheels would suit your car well.

or you could go for these

Mick,

If you're going genuine I'd say style 37's (M-Parallels). I know they are a popular wheel but I personally think they look the mutts and very easy to clean as well! I am rather biased as well though!

BBS I say, M5 rims are for M5s. If you do get M5 rims, get originals as the replicas do not have that big lip.

The BBS LMs are tasty alright but unless you find a set second hand they cost about €3000 without tyres.

Even second hand sets are going for €2500 but they come with semi used tyres. I sold my set for €2600.

I would love to get another set but it is just too much at the moment.

The LM's only come in 19" as far as I can see. I dont want to go that big. So may be a CH 17 or 18..

No you can get LMs in 18" but because of the way it is made I think 18" looks weird. You have to remeber the E39 needs a substantial rim as some can look good on E46 cars and crap on E39s.

Have you thought about Alpinas? They look sweet.

Here are a few types of rims to get you drooling.

Keep the one's you currently have, there's nothing wrong with them IMO. If you do change them don't go for M5 because it will look like a to**er's car then. As somebody else said, M5 wheels are for M5's only.

Not a great pic but you can see them top left. They're 18".

They look like Sport alloys on your car to begin with. Personally, I think the ones you have on are a handsome wheel and suit the E39 'down to the ground'. Wouldn't change them and save the money for something else

Certainly are mick, I am suffering with a bit of wobble at the moment but my upper control arms do need changing and the suspension bushes do. They didn't wobble when I first got them, they do need balancing depending on what tyres you use. Mine have avon ZZ3's and do go out of balance. The reps are 9 1/2x18 at the back and genuine ones have 9x18 and aren't polished on the outer face. HTH

No probs mick, also the salt and grit from the roads get under the lacquer quite easily once they've been on a while and can make them look terrible. I need to get mine refurbed, but have just been given a rather tempting offer of another car (1999 (T) plate 523i) so the refurb may have to go on hold as I have some serious pondering to do

How have you got on with your wheel dilemma Mick? Changed the upper arms and all wobbles gone! The alloys were perfectly ok! Am well chuffed with the car now and am keeping it for a little while yet!

Paul,

Good news on the wheel wobble.

Im still looking at a 85 Quatro.... £6500 stg. So the wheels may never happen.
