not a nice drive in the country type meet, just a park up in a car-park meet (with a McD's or KFC in sight) just so we can .... ehh! meet each other and know who we are talking to on the forum and maybe even have a look over each other's car's  over a cuppa coffee?

ive met a few folk but no-where near the amount that use this site (from the west)

if anyone's interested please post here and we'll see what we can arrange

i'm free, most night's and sunday afternoon's

yip Loch Lomond shore's has plenty of room, and if folk want a wee trip we could meet there and then take a trip along loch Lomond and cut of and go (slightly) cross country over the "old hall road" which was purpose build for army lorry's carry'n war head's trident/faslane & coulport (abit like a roller coaster road for car's) there's a good big car park half way across it with amazing veiw's of the clyde valley then from there we could go in to helensburgh which is full of quality chip shop's and chinese places and more than enough car park's

as there is a monthly meet already planned for Troon 6th may then maybe this could be a sort of in between monthly meet? maybe set this up for either sunday 13th or 20th May?

Loch Lomond's a good shout, The A82 is one of my favourite roads to drive, with loads of spots for photo opportunities.

can we pencil something in for May 13th?

if this is OK with folk i'll type out a meet point and a wee tour .... taking in some of Loch Lomond and maybe Luss (stop of for a cuppa T?) then across the military road in to Helensburgh? nothing to "out the way" just a 15-20 mile drive with decent photo taking areas and like ive said above i think stopping in Helensburgh for a good chat a nosey and if folk want there's place's for eat's  then back across to the origonal meet point where folk can find there way back home from?

like i said not a lot of mile's will be covered between leaving and returning to the meet point but good veiw's and good road's and good company to be had  and i'm sure it'll be a long enough time for folk travelling from other area's .. not to mention all the chit-chat that might come about

PS, if folk want we could also head in to Arrochar and travel back to Helensburgh along Loch Long ....  not a great road though for low car's..

SHORTY: if all's well with other's you might beable to use this date & route

OK folk's how's this look?

Sunday May 13th

meet point: Balloch Loch Lomond Shore's (outlet's car park)

Time: 1pm

have a meet N greet and then leave for 1.30-1.45

travel 10 mile's to Luss  (large car park with a T-room/carry out) where folk can have a cuppa and a natter.

leave Luss and double back toward's Balloch for 2 mile's then take the millitary road which lead's to Faslane/Garelochead (8 miles) stop of at a car park with a veiw (i know which one) camera's at hand  (or travel a further 2 mile's to a picnic spot with a veiw at the top end of Garelochead, whistlefeild) then from here head in to Helensburgh (6 miles, passing the peace camper's) for food, ice cream, refreshment? have a natter (a walk along the peir ) and a look round folk's car's

then from Helensburgh go back across to the meet point/Balloch (8 mile's)

maybe not thee best but all in about a 30 mile round trip (excluding your get there/get home mile's) on good smooth road's .. which will have the odd visitor from other countries and the odd police car .. with a couple of stop off's (if wanted?) for pic's, food and banter

(if needed balloch, luss  and helensburgh all have fuel station's)

if this is a go'er and it work's well and if folk want maybe we could do a longer run in the summer, maybe a trip to invarary or Oban?

please add your thought's to this wee outing so we can get it posted in the event's area,

 thank's

this pic was taken at the "car park with a veiw" ... a while back, when my E39 had it's 4X4 look!

[Are east-enders are allowed?]

We ain't been to Loch Lomond for a while, we fancy this too as we have that day free.. a nice 2.5 hr drive to get there

Ian: Silver E39
Stevie: Red M5
John: Grey M3
John S: Red 525 sport E34
Rob (& passenger): Blue E36 Sports Coupe

Any east enders for a convoy?

Was thinking of an alternative route rather than the boring M8.

M9 to Stirling, meet up others along the way, then the A811 all the way to balloch (nice scenic twisty road)

ive been having a wee think and if you'd like i could arrange a nice drive on to this wee meet .... maybe add about 20 mile's on to it?.. it would miss out going in to Luss

from Lomond Shore's, drive a few mile's along the A82 then cut of over the hall road, (maybe stopping at the car park with a veiw) then instead of heading in to Helensburgh we turn right and follow the very smooth "base road" to coulport , in to cove then down hill on to the old road which take's you along the shore line toward's Gaelochead, then on in to Helensburgh for... food, drink or ice cream (sorry but ya'll have to buy yer own!)

i would sugest heading down the A82 in to Arochar then back vie the loch-long road but some folk may find that road a little "topsy turvy" and on in to Helensburgh

i'll let you think about it and we'll see how thing's pan out as the week passes

hehe ... the list is growing  so would you prefer a wee tour? if so how many mile's of tour do you want to cover (some folk are doing a fair few mile's just to come along) or would you rather just have as i posted above a 20 mile's drive then on to one of the finest chip shop's in (west) Scotland "Lidos" in Helensburgh, way better than any morrison's!

also if anyone is bringing ther good ladie's with them "hide the credit card's" as Jenner's is bloody expensive  and the farmer's market is also on at lomond shore's this weekend! cheap fruit, veg and ehh ... horse meat

I'd be up for the road trip, haven't done the cove road for years. those who don't want the run could go straight over the hill into Helensburgh, I can vouch for the decent fish supper from the Lido and some tasty ice cream from Dinos.

Ok Bull by the horns time I recon.

Easties:

As the meet is 1pm through at Loch Lomond, I don't see the point of leaving Stirling before 12 so lets go for that.

I'll be joining at Stirling so I'll be at the Services from 11:30 for a 12:00 departure. Ok Malkie ??

Its not a big drive to Stirling from The Gyle Carpark so why don't the Edinburgh Crew meet there from 10:45 for a 11:15 departure to head for Stirling.

Rob as you seem to know the road, I nominate you as convoy leader from Stirling on (deligation........don't you just love it lol) feel free to deligate this to Issy if she goes.

If that doesn't suit anyone, please feel free to make suggestions / ammendments.

also if it's heavy rain on saturday and folk would rather put this off then say so before sat-night and we can arrange a future date  .. finger's crossed the weather won't be worse than at Troon.

PS, are we all up taking a 30 mile drive over some decent road's with good veiw's  then on in to Helensburgh for food (chip-shop) and a natter then returning to Balloch before splitting up for home

(ruff over veiw: Balloch-Arden-Garelochead-Coulport-Cove-Roseneath-Garelochea d-Helensburgh-Balloch) not so much a Loch Lomond tour, but still a good area to see and drive round and a lot less police and holiday folk and if the weather is decent we'll fit in a couple of scenic stop's.

TAKE NOTE FOLKS

not that we are gonna be doing anything silly but just to let you know Loch Lomond and West Dunbartonshire have the traffic Police using the whole area as a "road user's awaerness program" this weekend and are out in force to spot/stop motorist who may be doing something with there car's & bike's that they should'nt be!

dunno what you mean? hehe

another problem is that when the police hold these "watching drivers" weekend's they draft in quite a few un-marked car's ... so they can catch out the local folk too!

not much in luss! .. also route has been changed (slightly) in an earlier post ... not doing Luss as ... well ther's nothing to see in Luss

doing a kind of 30 mile round trip from Balloch to Arden then over the twisty millatary road toward's Garelochead/whistlefeild then on to a very, very smooth road to Coulport then on to some twisties via Cove, Roseneath and in to Garelochhead then from there in to helensburgh for a stop of and a natter and if anyone's hungry (chippy) then back across to Balloch so folk know there way back home

also.. going to fit in some scenic stop off's for pic's

doogie, your wife and wean will enjoy the day out no-matter what

we don't bite so C'mon and enjoy the day .. it also give's you a better veiw of who you are chatting to on the forum

i'm looking forward to tomorrow ..  see ya'll at Balloch

(wOw i sound a bit scarey when ive had a few dwinks!)

The M5 is sold - rumour is that you'll find it at Knockhill this weekend on the Phoenix BMW stand!  Filling up with 70 litres of fuel every 2.5 days soon wears thin...

Just swapped a cooling hose that was giving me gyp and replaced the resistor on my electric fan..... so just leaving to give them a proper test

SWMBO and little un are coming but in her car, which gives me a safety plan if things go wrong, and means she can bugger off if she gets bored
