Hi all,

Just a quick one to say that the Phoenix Park Races are on this weekend. There will be an amazing selection of machinery both on the track and in the paddock. Well worth a look if any of you are bored. Bring the wet weather gear though - as it's not looking great weather-wise.

Denis

Well, the races were great craic as usual... but the veyron is officially a bucket of scrap.

It doesn't make any noise at all - you'd expect something that has 1000Hp to have a bit of a bark... but no. There were plumes of smoke coming off the brakes after only two laps of the circuit, braking for only three corners (obviously from a high speed).

The Veyron is fast - the fastest disappointment on the planet.

I was there in the Morning, saw the Porches  & Historics. Very few spectators down there this year I thought anyway good to see it back on. Left just before the heavens opened up. I had a feeling the Veyron was going to be dull enough, pilot im sure given strict instructions not to get it sideways!

Yeah, the mud yesterday evening was brutal. There were 4wds getting stuck.

I have put up some photos of Saturday over on http://www.irishhillclimb.com - www.irishhillclimb.com . Here are a few thumbnails of the action:

Alan Kessie - launched by Sylvie Mullins

This is Simon McKinley - he started last on the grid yesterday and stormed his way to victory (sideways as usual).

Donal Griffin in flying form.

I have photos of the Historics up there aswell!

"There goes the Veyron with a focus in hot pursuit..."

Did anyone honestly believe it's be going full tilt around the Pheonix Park in the wet?  Or that it'd have enough road to hit top speed?

Sounds nice, though!

I know a one lap doesn't mean much but the times are there to see.

The Focus was way faster! 10 seconds faster

Mr Kellet must have thought he was still diving his FIAT racer because his lap time in that was only one second slower than the Veyron!

Was he trying to drift it or was he just happy to spin it every time he came into the first corner...

Looked nice though.

Now I reckon it was the driver's first chance to try and drift it.

She is the girlfriend of Formula Libre number 9 who won from the back of the grid on Sunday and drifted that single seater on nearly every corner.

I think he was the passenger and was probably teaching her how to drift!

Is that red-headed Dee who's normally on the saddle-less bike at the hillclimbs?

One and the same

The Saddleless Bike is a Trial's Bike and can be described as having 5 first gears!

Dee puts in great work as Paddock Marshal on most of the hillclimbs. It is non stop hurrying us drivers to make the event run more efficently. She deserves the highest praise for doing the job so tirelessly.

You're right Ger, it was my first time on a closed road in my car. And yes, Simon was sitting in with me.

There were so many people watching at the first corner that I didn't enjoy that corner as much. No nerves back at Furry Glen corner though! She's a good little car...

Hi Deirdre

Welcome to the forum

You might get the chance to drive the car at Mondello if the track day that a few of us in the BMW Car Club Irish Section are organising goes ahead.

Was Simon pleased with his write up in the Finglas Indepenent?

Keep an eye on this http://www.bavarian-board.co.uk/forum_posts.asp?TID=38252&PN=1&TPN=2 - thread  for updates

Re Fingal write-up - Don't know, he hasn't mentioned it.

Considered the track day and may bring out the grey E30 320i that you saw at last years hillclimb forum. Sure, I'll call by anyway.

Hey Dee,

Welcome aboard!
Can't see your photo... if you mail it to me, I'll put it up for ya. I really do love your car, so if you ever decide to sell it, you have to give me first refusal!!!!!

Denis
