Hi Guys

Need a bit of advice on my cars interior. When I first got the car about a year ago, I decided that the leather looked a little tired and probably needed cleaning with a leather treatment.

I went and bought some from my local auto shop and tried it at home. I wiped the seats down with a slightly damp cloth and then dried them. I then used an applicator sponge to apply the leather treatment. I applied it as directed on the container and let it dry. I cam back about an hour later and all my seats had gone brown ...

The only way I could get this to go away, was to use something similar to dash spray to bring back the colour. No damage was done and the seats looked great for the last year. But, I think they need doing again as some scratches and creases are starting to show through again...

How can I avoid the leather going brown again? Is this normal after cleaning the leather?

I did once hear someone talking about Water Buffalo leather needing different stuff to treat it???

Thanks

BB

Hehe...thanks Sporty1...

I think the link you have is to a company called "Buffalo Leather Products"...

I actually mean that I think the leather in my car came from a Buffalo... It sounds strange to me, but various people have said that some of the 5 Series came with this and they need a special leather treatment or they will get damaged...

When I saw my seats going brown, this thought was rushing through my head ...

From the research that I have done, it seems that some Meguiars Gold Class leather conditioner is what I need for ANY BMW leather...

What are all your thoughts on this...

Thanks

I haven't used the Meguiars leather car stuff, I use Autoglym Leather Car on the Nappa in my car, and have do for a long while. No complaints with that.

I see what you mean about the link, was doing two things at once at the time.......

Hey chazzer

Can I ask a stupid question... how do you know that it is buffalo leather? My handbook says nothing and I doubt my dealer will know...

Could I be a real pain and ask you for a close up photo of your seats

Thanks

Went down to BMW just now to have a chat to them and they showed me one of their inhouse products...

Some sort of leather foam cleaner and a special leather restoration kit complete with all applicators and clothes... Together with the foam it came to about 19 pounds. I also bought some of their UV dash spray which was about 6 pounds...

They guarantee me that this is formulated for ALL BMW leather...

Will give a try and report back...

Thanks

Hi

I thought that liquid leather was for repairing damaged leather, not conditioning it? Can it be used to condition leather...as my leather is in great condition with no tears or marks...

Thanks
