I have an E38, 735, I think it was built in May 1998, it definitely has steptronic. I don’t know what you mean by the transmission computer or how I could acquire the information you need I really don’t know that I should help as you’ll be under the hood, in the blazing heat and sunshine of Arizona while I’ll be freezing my knuts off under the bonnet here in Edinburgh!!!! | I appreciate the offer i dont think it would work as 97 production is different then 98+ and since my il was made in 6/07 i have to find a steptronic made between 01/97 and 10/97 inorder to work with my tcm |

Does anyone have a 97 year manufacture 740i or il with the steptronic? There has to be some out there somewhere.

Maby ive been told i can have mine reprogramed via the dealer but i need all the numbers from the ecu i need. Since the steptronic wasnt sold here US until 99 the computer is different. But if i give the dealer the ecu information for a steptronic computer my right year they can program it.
