Having recently suffered fuel economy similar to that of a space shuttle on the way back from Glasgow I'm going to get busy with the rest of the usual suspects related to ignition issues that manifest in forms of crap mpg, misfire (uneven idle and lack of power). I changed the offending coil pack and everything is getting back to normal and stuck some nitrox in the tank for good measure. Next on the list are the oil, filters, plugs and check the various hoses. I've always favoured NGK plugs and have always used manufacturers oil filters in previous cars - the rest of the filters I've never been too fussed about, aftermarket will usually do. I was wondering if anyone has any preference of choice for spark plugs and filters? Cheers |

. . . does anyone have a preference for plugs and filters ? ? ? starting to feel like a customer in Arnold Shark's, sorry, Clark, wondering if the apprentice who took my keys was actually some random ned in a set of overalls who just happened to wander past and would I ever see the car again . . .

Use Bosch plugs and go direct to BMW for the filters or a specialist German

Cheers Alex, Bosch plugs it is then! I believe there's a specialist parts place in the west end of Edinburgh, so I'll give it a go. I've got access to pits at my mates garage, but it's always difficult getting some space especially when there are huge lorries in for tacho repairs, with no dash boards, wires hanging everywhere, exceptionally inconvenient. ps fuel consumption back up to a healthy 29mpg!
