Am planning on picking up an 04' E60 in the next few weeks. One thing I want is front & rear pdc but not every car has it and I'd sooner not discount a car that ticks the rest of the boxes for me if retrofitting something like pdc is cost effective. I understand that it can be done diy but if there's money left in my budget after buying the car then I'll probably get someone else to do the work for me. Anyone got an idea as to how much this is likely to cost ? And is it best to go to a main dealership or a bmw specialist for it ?

Rang a few of the dealers around Dublin earlier but got bored sitting on hold to the parts dept in each of them. Will try again if I get a chance tomorrow.

One dealer just quoted me 268 for the kit - waiting on their service dept to get back to me re labour.

Any recommendations for independent garages to fit this ? Reckon they'd probably be a bit cheaper than a main dealer. Can the independents to the necessary software updates to enable this or am I better off with a main dealers ?

Is the price quoted for both front and rear PDC?

I have a friend with an X3 and the way the PDC works is quite brilliant; the beeping comes out of the speaker corresponding with the proximity to the obstacle. The PDC (rear-only) in my car works on beeps only.

268 Euro doesn't sound bad for a kit that presumably includes 8 sensors some kind of black-box and wiring to the audio system.

I asked for a price on front & rear pdc and that's what they quoted me so I presume it's all the sensors, etc.. However I doubt if it includes the center console switch as from what I can see the switch unit will need to be replaced entirely in order to get a button for enabling/disabling PDC. However I'm not that familiar with it - this will be my first bimmer.

Been looking through the parts catalogue at http://bmwfans.info/original/ and may then see if I can track down the relevant parts from ebay/wherever.

Aforementioned service dept never got back to me (surprise surprise) so I'll give the guys in AC a call later.
