| Has anybody elso retro fitted rear headrests to an E30 touring? I've got the headrests and located the guideholes but the headrests are not locating securely. Is there some sort of mount/insert that's also required? |

There should be mounting brackets inside the seat, if you haven't got the bracket fitted, they are available from the dealer, approx £18/pair i believe.

I have the same problem on my touring but haven;t got around to getting the bits together yet.
But how did you find the guide holes and how do you get the back off the seat to fit the brackets Mark R refers to Cheers Tris |

I think there is a little metal horseshoe clip in a groove,in the posts in the seat.I fitted headrests to my 328i but never got round to getting these clips!If you are unsure,take a trip to a breakers and have a look at one there.The big advantage is you can rip the seat apart to have a good look without worries of having to put it all together again.
P.S. Try and destroy a knackered seat,so someone else can have the decent one. -------------

Tris,
To check if there are guideholes in the seatbacks, drop the seatback to the horizontal position, then push the carpeted back panel horizontally towards the rear of the car and it should come off. It's only held in place by plastic tabs, but be careful as I managed to break a couple on the first atempt!! Then you should be able to untuck the seatcloth from the back and carefully slide your hand between the cloth and the foam and you should be able to find the guideholes in the top of the seatback.
