Who's coming along? Who's entering? Who's going to win?

Show 'n' Shine
Meet from 10am,
Judging from 12 noon
at http://www.petervardybmw.co.uk - www.petervardybmw.co.uk

Many thanks to Davy at BM Motors for stumping up with the first of the prizes - an Insp I or work of equivalent value

Big thanks to Cambell who has talked a local chip repair chappie into popping down to introduce himself and talk folk through his services.

And biggest thanks of all to Issy for sorting the venue!

Cambell just attending!? Surely not. Get entered m'boy! You've already de-tarred

As for the Iain's 7 series, I'll be giving him a wee bell shortly to get the trophy back down so we'll find out if he'll be joining us this year. Don't forget the judging criteria have evolved since last year and :

1) We're making underbonnet and boot judging mandatory on any car which has ever entered concours

2) We've introduced criteria to take account of how cars are used. So mileage will have a higher weighting. e.g. a pristine high miles car will score more highly than an equally well presented low miles car, etc.

I'll be attending, but not sure if it's right to enter as it should just be out of the paint booth. Not really fair.

I don't see why not Gary, your car will be absolutely stunning after the work has finnished (not that it wasn't before), so you and the car should be rewarded. IMO

After all, there will no doubt be pre-professionally cleaned cars there anyway.

BTW: what ARE the rules of engagement exactly?

Gary, your car should be as good a test as any for the new scoring scheme. Enter away mate

Exact details of the scoring scheme will not be made available before the comp. I've put some time into them with our judge and we ran a few scenarios past the scheme and it seemed to hold up. Can't wait to see the quality of this year's entrants... seems like more and more of you are getting bitten by the detailing bug.

Spoke to Vardy's today and all looking good to go. I am meeting them on Tuesday to make final arrangments. But they did say that they are launching the new X6 on 31st and it is the BMW Efficient Dynamics Weekend and with us there on the 1st it will be a big weekend for them so that should be interesting.

So get you name down guys even if you are not entering .....the more the merrier.......... lets have a big turn out to make this a great meet!

I've been having a bit of dialogue with some of the guys from the North East or England who are attending a show near Lauder, just south of Edinburgh on the same day.

I'm up for having an "after meet, meet" its only about 40 mins drive to meet these guys and have a pint or a juice or whatever. They are going to have a 2 hour drive to get home so I proposed that whoever goes from up here, drive to meet them.

Anybody interested ?

Issy's been chatting to the dealer today so we're looking good. Got our own wee walled area with plenty space for the judging and a spot with a view out over the sea for some photo opps Dealer should be adding some prizes to the pot. Big Al may have some of the new BMW LED torches as extra prizes. We're maybe even being treated to a burger van! So get your names down and make this the biggest meet of 2008 so far.

Might not be able to make this one guys... just discovered I have a water leak, not sure where yet but all the tell tale signs same as when my water pump had a small leak a year or so ago. Temp gauge starts creeping past the centre then comes back down of its own accord, check the level and it's gone down a little. Car still drives OK but I daren't take it any distance in case it actually does overheat

If I get a chance I'll get it checked out before then, but I'm super busy at the mo' so don't bet on it Too far to chance driving it to Davy's either.

Yip hence why it should be a great day for the club, loads of folk will hopefully be around

This is a big weekend for Vardy's as its the launch of the X6 and the Efficient Dynamics weekend also. They will have cars to view and they are expecting it to be busy! We will have a whole section at the rear of the showroom with water etc for any cleaning that needs to be done. Unfortunately the burger van has fallen through. However I am in the process of sorting something else out after all if Gary is there we wont want him fainting from hunger!

So hope you can all make it along and lets hope its a good day!!

Cheers

Coming from the west, is it quicker to go thru the city centre or round the city by-pass on a Sunday morning?

Best way is to go round the city bypass all the way past Sherriffhall to the roundabout at Granada Services, turn left, go past Asda on the left and Big W on the right (2nd exit straight over roundabout). Straight over the next junction (Sir Harry Lauder Road) to the next roundabout and go straight over (2nd exit) Vardy is about 200 yards on the right.

See you guys there

The http://www.edinburgh7s.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=112&Itemid=66 - Edinburgh 7's is on this weekend at Murrayfield, so it would be better to avoid that area and the roads leading into it.

See you's all tomorrow
