Nobody has been killed, and the only person injured is myself ( although that situation is down to total luck, absolutely no input from myself).

I feel like I've been run over by a steam roller, I have lots of brusing, and a cracked coxix, which is very very painful. Apparently an unusual injury from a road accident, and its thought most likely caused by seat belt pre tensioners.

My sugar levels were deemed correct by the paramedic crew, (5.6 ).

I left a factory just before lunchtime on Monday, having spoken with my office I was going to make my way to them, to look at a machine they are rebuilding in the workshop.

I stopped in a layby, ate my sandwiches, drank a coffee from my flask whilst smoking a ciggy, checked my blood sugars....no insulin needed, all ok.

I left the layby and had just entered a lovely little village called Waddeston (near Aylesbury), third gear, just below 30 mph, approaching a pedestrian refuge, all ok, nothing threatening me from anywhere and I suddenly needed to cough to clear my throat...............I remember nothing else.

I came round, very confused and in a lot of pain, with a crowd around me and a gentleman holding my head still, some 300 feet or so from the pedstrian refuge.

I had completely destroyed a parked vehicle, smashed through a wall (I'm not sure if I've hit the house) and came to rest in whats left of a hedge seperating two properties.

My Volvo estate car is completely wrecked ( I didn't know just how many airbags those cars have).

I'm home now, the medical boys are looking at something I'd never heard of "cough syncope"

Knowing what I do for a living...........I think I'm in the sh*te !

Best Wishes

At least nobody was seriously injured.  Could have been a lot worse, and your insurance can foot the bill for the damages; that's what you pay them for.

Just get yourself some rest, and don't worry about what happened; stressing yourself with worry can't help the situation at all.

Glad no one was hurt.

I had a colleague who blacked out while driving once. He lost his license for 1 year, or at least until he had gone 1 year without another blackout.

I hope your situation is sorted without such drastic measures.

Good luck. You have my sympathy.

Nigel - very sorry to hear about this.  Any property damaged can be sorted and the main thing is that your injuries are relatively minor.  Hopefully the medics can get to the bottom on the situation and identify a course of treatment that doesn't impact on your license.

Nigel, as has been already said, at least you and those nearby weren't hurt badly. It could have been a lot worse and people may say to you that your health is your wealth but they are right.
Hope it ll works out for you.

As has been said, be grateful the initial outcome was bent metal, a few bruises and some broken walls! Could've been much worse.

Hope they sort the medical aspect for you too!

Best wishes!
