Apologies in advance I don't have any pics but I'm looking for a bit of reassurance. i.e. the wife didn't let me play with her camera!

I was trying out my new Megs G220 PC machine yesterday.

I tackled the boot of my titanium silver E60 and my wifes Merc C200 coupe.

I washed the E60 and then clayed the boot lid which removed very little extra muck (compared to the Merc!) and I then dried it off and then tried my PC out. 

I used a Menzerna Polishing pad (orange pad) with Menzerna Intensive PO 85 RD 3.02 Polish and did half the boot lid.  I followed the tips etc I have got from various internet web sites and I have watched all the PC videos on t'interweb so I was reasonably happy with what to do.

After buffing off with a microfibre cloth I could see that I had removed most of the swirls but some were still there.  Tried the same procedure again but with a bit more pressure and the swirls were less pronounced.  Followed that with a Menzerna Polishing pad (orange pad) with Menzerna Final PO 85 RD Polish and again the swirls were gone but I could still see fine scratches that were not big enough to catch a finger nail.

I was happy enough with the result for my first time using the PC.  My wife then appeared out to see what this thing was that she had got me for my birthday and we then looked at her Merc (also silver) and noticed a nasty looking scratch on the front nearside wing.

I felt more confident so decided to use a Menzerna Compounding pad (white pad) with Menzerna Intensive PO 85 RD 3.02 Polish to tackle the scratch on the Merc (scratch was not big enough to catch a finger nail).  Scratch looked like it was disappearing, so then followed this with a Menzerna Polishing pad (orange pad) with Menzerna Intensive PO 85 RD 3.02 Polish and then Menzerna Polishing pad (orange pad) with Menzerna Final PO 85 RD Polish.  Swirls gone.  Scratch gone.

Advice from Polished Bliss was to use the above Polish with the Polishing pads.  They did say that I might need to use the Compounding pad as German paints are so hard.  I thought the paint appeared to be 'hard' on the BMW as I felt I had used the right amount of polish and pressure and pad/polish combination but didn't quite get all the fine scratches removed.

Will using a Menzerna Compounding pad and the Intensive Polish damage the paint on my E60?  I mean the Merc looks terrific and I know that you don't use the PC with these polishes much more than twice a year. 

What I want to know is that I won't have inflicted any damage to the paintwork by using the Menzerna Compounding pad and the Intensive Polish.

Looking at the rest of the E60 and how I got on with the boot, I think I will have to use the Menzerna Compounding pad and the Intensive Polish to get rid of the swirls and fine scratches that are present in the top clear coat on my E60.

The Menz polishing pad didn't have enough 'cut' and I am worried that the compounding pad has too much 'cut' but the results are excellent, is there a pad that is between the Menz polish pad and the Menz compounding pad?

It probably didn't help that I was outside polishing and the sunlight was so bright that I couldn't see the polish breaking down on the boot lid and I was using the sun as a light to show up the swirls and fine scratches.  I can't use my garage as it is full of 8x2 sheets of chipboard for flooring my loft. 

Any one got any comments?
