Just seen this on Amazon by Sealey for £57 ;

What do you think? I'll get the smaller backing plate from cleanyourcar.co.uk which will allow me to use pretty much any of the CCS or Meguairs pads.

I just can't justify having to buy the Meguairs G220 and then get all the pads on top, if its possible to get a reasonably decent capable machine for less and then spend the money on the pads.

The problem with that one is that it is not random orbital so you will end up with rings and swirls on your paint work.

To do a car you definitely need one that is random orbital so as not to damage the paint.

If you want a rotary polisher then this is an expensive angle grinder!

I would save up to buy the Megs G220.  I got mine from http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk - www.cleanyourcar.co.uk  with a set of Menzerna polishes.  Menz polishes are a good match for modern German paints.

It is a good tool, I just need to practise a bit more with it.

The Megs is a random orbit so it polishes in the same motion as your hand.  The pad itself doesn't spin, but moves in an orbit which does not create swirl marks etc.

Rotary polishers are best left to the experts otherwise you will end up with a primer coloured car.

Ok, fair play Meguiars G220 it is then, just wanted to know if something cheaper would be sufficient.
