Well people, after 8 years of happy ownership the beloved BMW is now
gone, having been sold to a nice Polish chap. First to view bought, as it turned out. The car was something special to me and IÕll miss her greatly. I now have a very sensible (and quick) Ford Focus 2.0TDCi. Thanks to all of you who through the forum provided help and assistance and a nice place to banter with like minded individuals. I think I am done with BMW for the next while, none of the current models do much for me and I still believe the after the E34 BMW lost something, far too mainstream and niche driven now, there was a time when it was all about the engineering. I will dip in now and again, but BMW-less will feel like a fraud so will lay low. All the best, Don ------------- 95 520iSE Auto (sadly missed) |

Don, If you don't mind me asking, what did it make in the end as my E34 is very similar in spec/mileage to yours and was wondering what money they are making the mo - I know a long wait may be in order to shift it..... Mines a 1995 520i SE manual, 103k Miles, Orient Blue, factory grey leather with a full service history (14 recorded services - 90% at BMW), very good cond and rust free. Mine has an ESR as opposed to the sometimes troublesome Air-Con unit though. Currently running the BBS metrics but have a set of 17" genuine BMW 5 spoke softline alloys also. ------------- E34 Pilot - Keeping it Old School on Irish Roads.

Well, at least you didn't get rid of it in favour of a For... er.. oh.. you did. out of curiousity, why would you go non BMW, i've had a mazda 121, and 2 bimmers, 318i saloon and 320i 01 saloon, haven't driven much more so genuinely interested, what would turn people off BMW to other manufacturers especially with BMW throwing good mpg's for the type of motor....? bit of a stupid question, but buying second hand (in general)your not ness. buying the badge? As I said, none of the current BMW's do much for me, which is disappointing
as I have been a serious enthusiast for the brand for 30 years. Over the years my priorities have changed. I wanted a diesel that fell into the new tax regime, so it had to be 2008 or newer. I wanted all the latest safety stuff and a few toys, needed fold down rear seats and wanted something with a bit of go that was built well and was comfortable. And I wanted all this for as little as possible! The Ford just ticked all the boxes, and at around Û20K was really the top of the heap. ------------- 95 520iSE Auto (sadly missed) |

Awww go on, pop in & out (although I found my post count dropped when I didn't have a beemer) I'm the type who can't really afford beemers, as in I can't afford new ones, and I do intergalatic mileage, so with rising fuels costs, they can be expensive to drive. I fell on a 96 E34 estate with the 1.8 litre engine, which is affordable to run, so you may be back sometime ------------- Best Wishes Nigel |
