Hi all...  I have a set of Cross Spoke 42 alloys http://accessories.bmw.com/internet_bmw/servlet/navigateDetails.do?language=en&nscId=1001&localePath=/COM/en&ts=1221683057896&from=2&fromList=true&nav=1 - Link that I rescued from a friends Beemer which has now gone to Beemer heaven courtesy of the crusher at ELVS near the airport.  I am selling them for him and want to find out if they are genuine BMW parts or not.  The previous owner said they were but I just wanted to check before I sell them so people know what they are buying.  Can anyone suggest how one could ascertain their genuineness?

Thanks...

Head

It should have BMW and a part number written on them

Look at the inside of the spokes (the reverse side of the wheels); BMW name , logo (and possibly part number) is cast into the genuine article.

Edit: Well done KB, by 30 seconds!

Hey guys, surely a good replica would have them details too no?  Or are you saying that if the details are there then it's probably genuine?

They definitely have BMW stammped into the edge of the rim at the back of the alloy, will look for part number tomorrow.  Am I right in saying that the part number should start with 36 as it's an alloy wheel?

That would be forgery (and not the good kind...)

If it's that good a copy that it carrys the BMW logo and the BMW part# then even if it is a copy who's to say it's a copy. In variably copies will not have BMW part # as that is extremely naughty.

Nice one lads.  I still haven't got out to the shed to have a look at the  part numbers.  Yeah it makes sense that copies wouldn't have the BMW stamps and part numbers usually, just wanted to make sure.

Thanks again...

Hello again and thanks for all the assistance.  It would appear that they are genuine as the part numbers are checking out OK on the above websites etc... so I am selling them as such.

Can anyone tell me if I am allowed to advertise them here on the Irish forum?

Thanks.
