Topic: 5 October Meet - Kielder

Subject: 5 October Meet - Kielder
Date Posted: 19-September-2008 at 11:25
OK. The plan runs something like this :

Head for Kielder Dam to meet at 1pm.

Grab some nosh at http://www.thepheasantinn.com/ - http://www.thepheasantinn.com/

Photo ops and driving according to weather / inclination.

All welcome

Gary has suggested "...the A7 to Hawick then the A6088 to Bonchester bridge then the B6357 towards Riccarton and the just before there you will pick up signs for Kielder, take the unclassified road towards Kielder and at the south end of Kielder water you have the dam near to Falstone/Stannerburn where the pub is situated..."

Suggestions for East/West/joint meeting points and times?

Who's coming along?

I'll be there.

Suggest a meet at showcase for the west boys and then meet up with the eastcoasters at hermiston Gate or similar and then head down the A7 together

Looks good,

The Westies will be coming round the City Bypass and turning to the A7 at Sherrifhall roundabout. There's a Tesco about 2 miles down that road, I'll meet up there.

I'd be up for this. I run a hotel in Newcastleton which is 24 miles from the Pheasant Inn if anyone fancies meeting there? I don't mean to advertise but I notice people are looking for accommodation, I'll be happy to put people up for £40/single or £60/double bed and breakfast.

Like i said on other forum this won`t be possible at the Pheasant Inn as its too busy with bookings and we have left it too late, she said she can feed us,but at separate tables thru the Inn maybe,If you call up mention that Someone spoke to me Peter Skene today

I would say around 18 bodies from Here + you guys

Is there somewhere else we can maybe get say 30 seats booked?

If we can't get in at the Pheasant Inn would it be worth traveling another 10 miles from Kielder across to Otterburn? Maybe try Otterburn Hall Hotel or the Otterburn Tower Hotel?

Surely they can cater 30 for lunch.

Guys, I dont want to worry anyone but I'l looking up directions for this place and the everage driving time from Bonnyrigg (Eskbank) is almost 2.75 hours.

This would make me think that leaving Eskbank around 10 would be a better idea. I'm happy to be corrected.

Guys, If you can get yourselves to the City Bypass (A720), find sherrifhall roundabout and take the A7 South Exit, over a few roundabouts and meet in The Tesco carpark, I'll get you there.

Pete, if you PM me with where you're staying, I'll give you a route from there.

I'm picking David up to the west of Edinburgh at 10am and heading straight to Tesco. I should be there for 10:20 at the latest. Maybe catch a few of you for a blether.

I think we should have a roll call so no-one is left behind trying to find this place.
