Hi Guys/Gals,

As a current Z4 owner, I'm just about to buy a used (ex-demo) 135 M , but really wanted one with cruise.

I have a car in mind but unfortunately it doesn't have cruise. I've been advised by the dealer, that although this costs £180 as an option when you order the car, its going to cost over £1000 to fit it to an existing car.

I was flabber-gasted when quoted this price. Anyone have any knowledge of how the Cruise works on the one series?

I know for a fact that on the Z4 its simply a new stalk added to the stearing column (maybe a new lower stearing column cover) and a case of registering the new component with the eng managment system. On then Z4 the parts are in the couple of £100's ...... not a £1000

Any guidance appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Stiv

welcome to the forum.
It seems that the price is indeed for just a stalk and labour.

I'm not sure if any electronic reconfigurations is needed.

Well miracles do happen.......

Dealer kindly offered to "upgrade" the care Free of Charge if I go ahead with the sale.  So either thery're prepared to sink £1000 worth of parts & labour into the already very attractive deal they're proposing.....   or it doesn't really cost them £1000 to fit!

MMMM....... I wonder

I'm just about to collect my 2010 1 series. It didn't have cruise control fitted and the dealer quoted me £800.....I told him it was way too much. He called me back the next day, reduced the price of the car and threw in the cruise for free. He's still making a profit......
