Realoem should tell you. Heres the details for my 323i:

Although it says no oil change for the diff. (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BF72&mospid=4 7429&btnr=33_0370&hg=33&fg=05) Despite this, I did top mine up about 2 years ago with some Castrol general purpose diff oil that my brother had in the shed. For the diff, make sure you can remove the fill plug before draining. You dont want to drain the oil from the drain plug, then realise the fill plug is seized! I found them unbelieveably stiff. I had to get a blow torch to expand the metal casing + WD40 + belting the spanner with hammers etc.
