Are the heated nozzles outside temperature dependant? Reason I ask is as I looked at the bonnet today, the area around the nozzles looked defrosted as the rest of the bonnet was frozen. |

Just a little thought for people, at this time of year.
If you get a piece of copper pipe about the same bore as a hose in your cooling system, then get a longer piece the same bore as your washer jet hose, wind the smaller pipe a few times (the more the better) around the larger pipe, then cover the assembly in epoxy resin. Insert the larger pipe into your cooling system, and the smaller pipe into your washer jet system. When your engines warm you get defrosted washer jets!! And the warm fluid cleans your windscreen better too. Blue Peter sets you up for life !!!! ------------- Best Wishes Nigel |

I think the nozzle heaters come on with the rear screen heater, along with the mirrors. seemed that way to me last time it was frosty, and my senator did that too (back when I couldn't afford a 5..) ------------- E90 M3 DCT, E46 330d Touring, VW T5 wannabecamper Previous: Disco 3 TDV6, 2x E34 540i6, E34 535iS |

Are all E34 5 Series fitted with heated mirrors ? My 1991 525 Sport either doesn't have them fitted or they aren't working.

The heated mirrors/washer jets operate when you start the engine.They are on a timer setup and come on irespective (?) of the outside temp.
At least thats how Ford ones work. -------------

Problem solved, i replaced the glass in both mirrors and they are now heating up nicely
