I need to remove the door trims on my UK '89 Highline so I can get the door handles off.
I can see there's a screw at the front & one at the rear. I assume there will be one under the mirror adjuster but it's such a tight fit I can't see how it comes out. Normally there are a couple of screws along the bottom edge of the armrest but on the Six it's covered by the lower panel. Thanks. I actually found it on the Roadfly forum. I was concerned about damaging the mirror adjuster but I got it out in the end. After that it was easy. Think I might leave the door handle removal to the bodyshop. You're right about corrosion on sixes! the state of my back bumper when I got the rear valance off!!! Getting the handle off is the easy part. It's getting it back on that's the hard bit!!

While you have the bumper off, remove all the corrosion mechanically until you get down to clean alloy. Then spray it with BMW Transparent-Wachs - part number 81 22 9 400 711 from your local dealer - best to get around 3 cans as they most likely will not stock it. Subsequently spray it again annually. Its the stuff that they used to spray on the inside of the engine bay. It can be removed with petrol once it has set. If you accidentally get some on your paint, remove it by polishing with a clean cloth immediately, though it will not harm your paintwork. I use it on wheel arches, and most other areas that get heavy weather.
