I said I'd never buy anything again from Euro due to the number of problems I've had, but with alternators @ £235 + vat exchange from your main dealer and Euro @ £69 + vat exchange then the choice is clear. I though't that with the good reviews you guys have put on that maybe I was just unlucky on a few occasions?? Read on....

Bought remanufactured alternator from Euro for my E30 320. Its an Elstock unit (www.elstock.dk) and was completely new inside out. Fitted it this saturday and car ran fine. Did some shopping in the evening etc. Went to drive home, it was dark so obviously the lights went on. Slowly they started dimming to the point where the actual exterior lights weren't on!! Parked the car in the drive, went to crank and it was absolutely dead. Lucky I got home.

Come Sunday, recharged the battery and had my friend come round and check the alternator for charge - there was ABSOLUTELY no charge in the system i.e. completely duff alternator. I was absolutely shocked, especially considering the alternator waS bench tested and came with an inspection report.
I put the old original alternator on and hey presto, car ran all day and has even got me into work this morning with no problems.

I am heading down to my local Euro after work (Woodford) and am gonna throw it at the manager there - I haven't been this wound up in a long time..........

DO NOT BUY EURO ALTERNATORS OR SUSPENSION

You seem to have had alot of bad luck with Euro Car Parts!
Have you checked for a local garage to re-condition your existing alternator?
Its a pain because you will be without your car for a while, but some garages will remove the alternator, get it reconditioned and have it back in your car within the day.

Had a very strong word with them this morning. They have now offered a full refund which I am going to take after work. Never again am I going to use them but for plugs and filters.

I know that Bosch do remanufacture them also - will look into this via my specialist.

Unfortunately I have to second this. A friend of mine bought a reconditioned head for his M30 M535i (E28) from Euro car parts and the "new" valves they had put in had huge variations on valve stem length - up to 4mm. This obviously could not be adjusted out with the adjustment on the rocker arm. Because he assmebled the head himself (bought it as a kit) they were very awkward at replacing it - in the end he had to fork out for new parts from BMW.

ECP has always had quality problems with some of their parts  and thats why i try to use GSF for most of my parts nowadays.
