I had the ABS warning, the brake warning and the DSC warning telltales on during a short drive earlier today, but when I came back to the car and restarted the lights had gone back off. Usually this indicates that you have no ABS or DSC.

Is this worrying, or does the fact that they haven't come on again mean it might be just a "glitch?"

Chances are that it is a wheel sensor is on its way out.

When they are failing you get an intermitent warning light.  Once they have failed completely the light will stay on.

Once the light is on all the time, get a diagnostic check done to identify what is at fault.

A wheel sensor is a relatively easy diy job.  I replaced both the front sensors on my E39.

Plenty of incidents of these failing on E39s and E46s, just do a search on here.
