My 2001 728i has had major problems lately, one of which was the entire harness from the gearstick to the computer shearing in half. Took some diagnosing!
Latest problem is a light that has appeared in the left hand side of the control panel. It looks like an engine, with a fan on the left, and what appears to be another fan on the top. Its coloured yellow / pale orange and is on all the time. I have misplaced my handbook, so can anyone tell me what this icon is about? That's your engine management light on. Do not drive, drive moderatley to the nearest BMW, will be what is says in your handbook. Sounds like you have a need for a diagnostic session. ------------- Be exclusive and drive a Petrol 5 Series!
