My Tomtom One XL UK which is nearly 3 years old has stopped working.

It cannot find a satelite signal.  I can't pick up any signals and just asks you "Poor GPS reception are you in building".

It happened last Sunday and I thought it might be effects from the Ash cloud or something but my wifes slightly newer Tomtom One XL UK picked up the satelites fine when positioned next to mine in the same car.  Still no signal received this morning.

Any thoughts?

Has anyone had any success with Tomtoms being repaired?

Thanks

Andrew

The suggestions in the link below seem to be the most likely fixes:

I've noticed when using mine, that it randomly loses position, but sorts itself out.

Is this what you found and does it get worse until it stops?

Thanks guys

I posted on here then did some googling.

I've got a lead from the Tomtom web site. I need to do a soft reset or a hard reset and then I can download various things from Tomtom website which may help.

From various other forums it might help just charging it for several hours...need to find the mains charger, I think my old Blackberry charger would work....if I can find that.

Mine just point blank refused to detect any satelites.  Worked fine then went to use it 3 weeks later and it just refused to find any.

It would only loose satelites when I was in the Clyde or Charing Cross Tunnels, other than that, its fine/was fine.

Right

Found the charger and charged it over night.

Downloaded all the gubbins from Tomtom to check for updates.

3 updates later and sticking it out the window it picked up a satelite and it now knows where it is.
