Anyone know how an abandoned car can be legally claimed? I'm aware of an early 80's 3 series convertible in good condition left in an apartment car park due to the owner returning to eastern Eurpoe.

The management company have tried contacting the owner without success and are now threatening to remove and crush the car. There are no keys or vehicle registration certs - and it is on Irish plates.

If feasible, I want to see if the car could be saved!

I would go to the Guards and explain the situation. I think there is a form you can fill out and get a solicitor/commissioner of oaths to sign or mabey its the solicitor/commissioner of oaths who you get to fill out something. I bought a spare car for parts but had considered putting it on the road but like you it was owned by an eastern european who went back home and I was told I'd to go to a commissioner of oaths to declare I'd tried and failed to contact the current registered owner etc. Hope you can follow this and hopefully you can save the car!
