Its fine thats everything for now :)

Main work starts hopefully this week coming.. Engine is not ment to be fitted to the 7th October but i may get it done this week coming of following if there is enough time in the day!

Car itself as i keep geting told by my father does not need a respray but there is some small inperfections that are anoying me such as stone chips so car goes for paint soon also, So that is when the major bodywork changes will happin..

But before that my new BBS wheels are going on and my archs are getting rolled and pulled for the to be fitted or the will rub once the coilovers are on with the camber arms.

So alot of work happening over the next few weeks and months..

Then last of all the M52 will be getting supercharged :D

Not rattle tins right enough bad just as bad, I dimolished the old stairs in to the house to built a new set and that was as far as i got before i built a fancy set around the existing ones and then the car took main priority so put this protective floor paint on it that they use in garages, was my fathers great idea lolol

Trust you to notice that steve haha

Wow good job cant wait to see them once they done! Excuse my ignorance ....are you polishing them or painting them?

-------------

Posted By: RoddyE36Mtec
Date Posted: 13-September-2010 at 22:39
Thanks issy :)

They were getting polished but was going to be to much hasel and costly..

So.... Now there geting painted silver metalic on the dish,
The metalic in the paint is that small it makes the the paint a shiney bright silver and replicates polished/Dimond cut dish in a way.
Its 513 silver or somthing i think

And the centers are getting painted Bmw E39 Anthracite grey

My mate Euan intraduced me to the 513 silver.. as soon as i went to him about the wheels he had both these colours in mind as he knows what i like and knows im a picky PERSON lol

Yup this is very true!

Today im going to be doing the rest of my wheels if all goes to plan they should be all in primer today.

Also orderd some Goodyear Eagal F1's to stretch on to the wheels as the same a good allround tyre for dry and wet conditions.

Hi Roddy.

Your not hanging about with this are you.
The splitter looks good. Where did you get that from?

Style 5s look great on E36s as well. I'll await with interest the end result of the paint on the dishes. Anthracite on the centres wont be a million miles from mine i take it. Darkening the centres is a marmite thing i think. Though mine were done before i bought the car i don't mind it but i think if they're too dark it makes the wheels look smaller
I found the Eagle F1s cornered ok but tramlined like a cow on my old 328. ContiSports were a million times better in that respect.

Although the engine conversion itself is one i don't really see the point of (purely on the basis that good 328i Sports and M3s go for less than peanuts nowadays) i'll follow your progress with interest. I like a good build thread

Heey fella..

Yeah ive been bashing on each day.. I striped the rest of the Style 5's tonight, a bit at a time is the best way to go about this things ive found.

Yeah the anthracite on the wheels is the E39 Colour so it aint to dark so it shall look nice i recon but thats my opinion.

Yeah ive found the dont do the Eagals in the size i want to will opt for somthing else after all lolol

But as for the engine, ive decided to do it this way as i know ive got a good shell, and its always been well looked after also ive bought the engine paid for it to be fitted for cheaper than you can buy an engine normaly so it has cost me not alot of money and in the end will have a nice car.

I will own this for a while once it finnished like ive done preiously with the other cars ive built then move on to somthing beter as a project.

OR possibly E46 M3

But thanks for the kind words and hopefully i dont dissapoint with the end result. and hoping catch up with you at one of the up coming meets Ham as i still never got a good look at your car as was dark that night lol.

Hi, car looks good. You clearly know what you are doing and what you want. If my opinion matters, I would change the indi's for OEM items, rather than the projector style. Keep the tint if you want but the projectors look cheap IMO. also get rid of the M grille badge.

All in all a fantastic car, just a couple of wee ideas from me. Good luck!

Thanks bud, Yeah mate ive took a while to get every little detail thought out and know exactly what parts im after and now ive just went for it, Some parts are going to be hard to get a hole off but will be worth it in the end!

Yeah the indicators are a temp mesure as im awaiting OEM BLACK DEPO's from the US

and i also think the M badge is a bit much so im awaiting my carbon kidney grilles so i will change them all at once :D

unfortunately a never thought and now its to late i should have waited got the rest of the money and bought the Eibachs boss..

But i bought the AP racings.. bad move im going to sell them on and buy what i wanted to start with.

A rushed it and thats what happins when your in a rush for parts when you cant get what you wanted

-------------

Posted By: HairyHaggis
Date Posted: 16-September-2010 at 00:10

AP Racings ..... I didnt even know you were looking at those, a thought you were more for the BC Racing or the Eibachs mate, if you can though the Gaz set aint that much more expensive if at all, than the Eibachs .... and at least you can set them to strength etc, wheras the Eibachs are height adjustable only and pre-set dampening etc ....

If i had known better at the time i would have fitted Gaz before Eibach purely for the adjustability ...

Came down to me thinking if a bought those id have money for other parts ETC..

But i should have stuck to my guns and just went for the beter option, Yeah i remeber we talked about the the Gaz setup the other day when i was round.

that may be what i do then sell these on and buy the Gaz set up and the Eibach ARB's..

Was a silly silly move as now i have the hasel off trying to sell them on oh well ill learn next time not to rush in to stuff!

Thanks very much buddy,

Hopefully its going to be somthing that folk will appreciate the work thats went in to it and possibly get mag feature in the end :D

Every car ive built to date has been mag feature'd so hoping to keep that alive with the bmw aswell and possibly do one better if possible for a front cover!

I just about had achived that with my last show car just before i decided to brake it for parts as i went abit far with it i personaly thought trying to make it original and one off and it took all the fun out of it once the car was always in the bodyshop having things changed as folk do copy on the modding scene!

But with the bm i want to keep it as OEM as possible but with some nice subtle mods that make it unique !

Subtle is the way with BMs, I don't agree with folk being overly anal and complaining when a 94 car is fitted with 97 kidneys etc - however I believe that BMW made a good job of designing the cars we drive so little tweaks are the way ahead. Keep us updated Roddy!

Somthing i thought i would share with you guys :

Here is the donner car from which my engine conversion will be taken!
Engine was rebuilt for to attend a trip to the Nerburgring Germany, Car made it all they way there and back but during its trip there it end up going backwards into the barier.. Which is the reason i have ended up coming to owning it..

Engine was worked on by CHIZFAB and is currently been held there since it came back from germany till it has been transplanted in to my car!

While i was there i thought id take some pics of other BMW's Kyle and his mates own..

Dakar Yellow M3 4door Drift car :

Toole's 323 Euro Touring :

Kyle's mate's E39 540 V8 Drift car :

Thought it would liven up my thread abit as not much pics of progress lately..

Well I don't mind telling you Neil that it was with much trepidation that I
clicked onto the monkey hanger link however my
apprehension was unnecessary when I saw what it actually contained.

So Roddy, is Kyle's mate from Hartlepool?

To be honest i have no clue what is with the monkey.. In the "VAG"
scene.. Things such as Vw Audi and stuff its a big thing to hang things
from your car for some reason or other... Lets just hope thats not how
he straps his kids in for the school run haha

His mate is from here in fife someplace not sure where tho.

Im glad people are interested in what is being done to the car.

Once this is nearly finnished i a few months i think if i have the funds ill move on to a E30 Project.

Possibly another M52 conversion, Or if a find the M3 engine ive been hunting for i may fit that to the E36 and fit the M52 to the E30.

I shall see what happin's its the furst time since i was 16 ive only own'd one car for the time being i dont no what to do with my spare time no more lololol no cars to tinker with

So my CR250 motorcross bike gets a raging over the local Motorcross tracks in my spare time now when not playing with this

Even broke my track car for parts to as it was not fast enough :(
so hopfully a bmw will fill that space for me !

That one was the colour tester they had not been rubed right back at that point i wanted to make sure the colour was going to look as i wanted before we actualy rubed them right back and high build primer them.

Colours on the card always look diffrent to real life.. so before we got as far as doing all the work and painting them a colour i was not going to be happy with them taking them right back to start again we decided to do it with one furst!

10" Wide wheels for the winter. Lol Good Luck.

BBS look pretty good though. Get plenty wheel wax on them before you fit them on the car.

I want a wheel for the winter that still goes with the
look in going for and easy to maintain and not as
precious as the Style 5's

and these seem to fit the bill and hopefully the car wont
need to be used to much over winter as im looking for a
daily driver anyway so i dont think the 10s will be to
much of a problem,

I would be happy with a set of Borbet B's also!

But yeah im awaiting my center caps still then the wheels
will get waxed up, we're talking about giving them a
slight scuff back just the top coat to give a key to grip
to and going for another coat of laquar just to make sure
the wont get damaged with stonechips easly.

Ah that makes sense then.
When you said winter i thought you meant for using in the bad weather. 10" rims will be going nowhere in snow.

We will have to get around steve's for another cupa and
biscuit meet sometime (Steve gets a Roddy weekly coffee
morning visit often lol) so i can have a beter look at
your car in the light this time, looks great in the pics

Update :

Unfortuneatly i wont be picking the car up till dinner time tomorrow due to the fact somthing that was supose to be ordered by bmw was not and wont be with us till tomorrow morning but,

After heering the car run kyle took the car out up and down the road last nite to check for any problems and said this morning that the M3 Mani conversion that i choose to have done is one of the best mods he's seen/done..  its the furst time he's been asked to do one and said it transforms the car completely, throttle responce and accelaration is unbeliveable, even compaird it to his own M3 and said it would easly keep up till 3rd and thats without the..

BBTB
M50 Inlet Conversion
Dave F
S50B30 Us Cams ETC..

So needless to say im happy just cant wait to have the rest of the work done now and see what gains i get from those!

Couple pics of the wheels :

Bit stretch and poke..

Its great that its flying along and everything is working cool but have to be honest, I dont like the stretching of the tyres, I know its "Euro" style or something, just think it would look better with straight walls and fat tyres. The main thing is that you like them but so dont listen to me.

I am however most impressed that a young chap like yourself took on such a project, so Well done bud.

Thanks cambell!

Yeah people think its a euro thing to have stretch tyres, but to be honest there stretched on the wheels for a reason and the main reason is these wheels are not made for this car so the offset and width make them hard to fit to lowered cars.. so by stretching the tyres it gives you more room to play with and keep the car as OEM as possible without having arches made wider and such like this way they just need rolled!

When i get a chance and steve is not busy am going to ask him very kindly to take some rolling video's and pictures of mine and his car together as he's the man for that kinda stuff !

Looking very nice mate, those wheels look spot on!

But I have to ask, are those lights even legal being that dark, and are they still as bright at night??Just curious, not being picky.
