I have ditched the CD changer and installed an IPOD in it's place with Dension ICE LINK.
You get loads of other IPOD connection kits for less money than a CD will be. And the sound is MUCH better!
Just find an old IPOD on Ebay with a broken screen. Depending on what BMW headunit you have you don't need to "see" the IPOD at all and can control it from the CD changer buttons.

Nice idea UweM3, like the thinking about broken screen. I have a business head unit, in a 1996 build e39, think i wil go down the road you suggest

I think your Radio will NOT display any IPOD information. Mine doesn't. All you can do is to create
5 playlists and select them with the CD changer buttons.
In each playlist you can skip forward or back to the next song.

Make sure you buy a proper IPOD controller and not just an "AUX-in" kit which isn't going to control the IPOD from the radio. Do you have a multifunction steering wheel?

this is what you want
