Looking forward to Gaydon being over, that'll be another stickie gone.

What I'd like to see after that is GavB's advert and the Person Identifier gone,(from the stickies) the show plates moved to the region recommends and maybe when I log in I'll be able to see some current threads without having to scroll down all the flippin time.

But I fear it wont happen.

I don't know what you're talking about Confused

The default display appears to be by last post with announcements and stickies first regardless.

This forum has only four stickies - where's the issue?

I dont know either! I have already removed the ones that were out of date and I dont see what the issue is with putting the meets as a sticky to keep them at the top. I always remove out of date threads as soon as the meet is past. Funny no one else is complaining about this? Confused
As I have said before use the new posts link and you wont even have to look at them!!

This started off as a laugh but since you ask, the peoples faces thread just takes up space and hasn't been posed on for months as does the obviously paid for thread advertising a business. As previously mentioned I have no problem with stickies that need to be there.

I have used the new posts button and the last time I used it it directed me to spam about makeup and other guff and not to the Scottish Region which is where my interest lies. (being that I am actually Scottish)

Posted By: Ham328
Date Posted: 16-August-2011 at 11:17
For what it's worth, the amount of stickies never bothered me, as there was an obvious point where they stopped and the non stickies started.
It's a bit more difficult now to distinguish where the last sticky is.

It's not going to cause me any sleepless nights though. Sleepy

Neil told me that I can get an ad blocker to remove the ad that takes up an unwelcome amount of my screen. Where do I get this ? I have no problems with ads as I know that this finances the forum but on the old version of the site they were in an area of the screen that just took up empty space.

Can this huge ad please be moved to the right hand side of the Bav Board sign where there is just wasted space and can the paid for forum post clearly advertising the detailing busines be integrated into that and the post deleted. (That should make everybody happy)

Lets clear up what can be a brilliant looking forum.Smile

Just do a Google search for <insert browser name> adblocker e.g Chrome adblocker

I've just tried one from  http://adblockplus.org/en/chrome" rel="nofollow - http://adblockplus.org/en/chrome  - it gets rid of the advert

Cheers Neil, 1 problem kind of solved. The ad blocker works a treat but what it doesn't do is free up the unused space. There's now 2 gaping white empty spaces.Ermm
A wee suggestion

Why don't you use the "New Post" button - saves going through the forum to get to posts - then you won't see the stickies you complain about

Also set your landing page to -  http://bavarian-board.co.uk/active_topics.asp" rel="nofollow - http://bavarian-board.co.uk/active_topics.asp

Makes absolutely no difference, gotta scroll past the pointless sh*te to get to the threads I want to see anyway. I've accepted that the top of the Scottish section of this forum looks crap and it only seems to be me that cares (or used too).

yes,

but there's no need to remove all of the stickies. I've always said that they have their place, for example, the monthly meet should be a sticky until its over and has been replaced by the one for the next monthly meet.

I agree that threads like the Gaydon thread should be prevalent but not for 7 months. Those who are going, already know they are going. I would suggest making that a sticky for a couple of months beforehand to allow people to get the hotel booked etc.

Believe it or not, I have the forum in the forefront of my mind when I make these comments.
